Dominique said she her involvement has allowed her to meet many people that have made her feel welcomed & comfortable on campus and apart of something greater.

She said she likes living on campus because she likes being surrounded by positive people, and being able to develop connections with her professors and other students.

When asked what advice she would give future Panthers she said, “Make connections with all your professors, it will benefit you in the end. Also, it doesn’t matter where you begin it’s where you end.”

Say hello to Austin Bucholz, this week’s #ResidentofEIU! Austin is a transfer student from South Suburban College, originally from Lansing Illinois.

Austin is studying Mass Communications and Broadcasting. He works as a desk assistant at Stevenson Hall and serves as the Vice President for their Hall Council. You can also hear him on air as a DJ at 88.9 WEIU TV Public Broadcasting Station.

Austin shared with us some great #FuturePanther advice “Get involved in things that you enjoy as soon as you can. It's not as hard as you think to make friends! My involvement on campus has (hopefully) positively impacted students and I have made friends that I will keep long after college. It has improved my teamwork skills as well.”

Austin chose EIU because of its affordability, distance to home, communication studies program, and the work experience opportunities.

We know you are going to do great things on the Stevo hall council Austin, thank you for your hard work!

Meet Gary Uteg, this week’s #ResidentOfEIU!

Gary is from West Frankfort, Illinois and is majoring in Accounting.

Gary is a Building Supervisor for MLK Union, works at MLK Union Bowling Alley, is a Debut Leader for New Student & Family Programs, and will be a Resident Assistant starting Fall 2018 for Stevenson Hall where he also lives. Previously he also worked as a PROWL Leader for New Student & Family Programs Fall 2017.

He says he likes living on campus because he is close to everything, and it allows him to get more involved. Gary continued, “I don't feel like I have to go far at all for new opportunities. You also have the opportunity to not only meet people in your classes, but you have the opportunity to meet people on your floor and make more connections. I also don't think I would have gotten involved as much as I have in my short time of being here at EIU if I lived off campus."

When asked for advice for future Panthers, Gary said: “Get involved as soon as you possibly can on campus. Take advantage of all the resources EIU offers and run with it. Make friends, make connections, and never be afraid to ask questions.”

Gary, we are very happy to have you as a Panther and appreciate your involvement on campus. We know you are going to be an amazing Resident Assistant this upcoming year!
