Some new additions to the living room today! John Meyer, the big guy from Newform Research dropped off (and set in place) my new speakers today.I had a vision of what I wanted and John brought it to life even better than I had hoped. Many thanks John, it is a pleasure to deal with you. Now to keep working on the home theatre, also with John's speakers in the mix!
This was the northern part of our research area where I worked in the field this summer. I was flashed by the beauty of the surroundings. Difficult terrain to move though. Bogs and swampy forests. Wetness was notoriously high due to regular precipitation.

Here he is, little James. Star of the show. So utterly cute and gorgeous, beyond words really. He's about 3 months old I think
James seems to have made a bit of an impression on the world of Flickr, despite not being "Interesting" enough for Explore, as of 1 April and this is no fool, his picture has been viewed more than 5000, (five thousand yowzer) times. Quite exceptional considering he's not even wearing a bikini!!!

Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories, usually using a scientific method. The primary purpose for basic research (as opposed to applied research) is discovering, interpreting, and the development of methods and systems for the advancement of human knowledge on a wide variety of scientific matters of our world and the universe.
Scientific research relies on the application of the scientific method, a harnessing of curiosity. This research provides scientific information and theories for the explanation of the nature and the properties of the world around us. It makes practical applications possible. Scientific research is funded by public authorities, by charitable organizations and by private groups, including many companies. Scientific research can be subdivided into different classifications according to their academic and application disciplines.
Artistic research, also seen as 'practice-based research', can take form when creative works are considered both the research and the object of research itself. It is the debatable body of thought which offers an alternative to purely scientific methods in research in its search for knowledge and truth.
Historical research is embodied in the historical method. Historians use primary sources and other evidence to systematically investigate a topic, and then to write histories in the form of accounts of the past.
This board in the health-safety operations office was updated by health- physicists with data from daily ionization dosimeters and other monitoring instruments to ensure that no one exceeded the legally permissible radiation exposure limits. Strict limits were imposed on the amount of radiation that employees could be exposed to over time. These limits were far below the levels that were considered to cause health risks. All personnel assigned to Plum Brook Reactor Facility were monitored for radiation exposure on a continuing basis by utilizing film badge dosimetry. The frequency of the individual readouts varied from monthly to quarterly depending on the job assignment. Since there was an inherent delay in this technology, it became necessary to have current daily estimates of exposure for personnel who routinely entered radiation areas Lifetime exposure levels were also closely monitored through regular bioassay samples.

A mockup of Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft, in development in partnership with NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, splashes into a 20-foot-deep Hydro Impact Basin at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, during certification and qualification testing of the spacecraft’s landing systems design. While the Starliner is designed for land-based returns, it is important for engineers to understand how the spacecraft and its systems would perform in emergency water landing scenarios. Taken this morning down St. Aldhelm's Head in Dorset. Originally I went down there to take a picture of the chapel that is there. Upon arrival though this caught my eye. Sat on the cliff edge I quite liked it.
The memorial commemorates the radar research carried out at Worth Matravers from 1940 - 1942 which was crucial to the winning of the war and the birth of the modern telecommunications.

The Research LK62 arriving back home to Shetland after having major work done at Måløy, Norway in 2014 . The vessel was lengthened by 8m from 71meters to 79meters making her the largest tank trawler in the Uk, also fish decks were made fully sheltered for crews safety. In the photo the Research is steaming past the crew owners homeport of Whalsay to show the work which had been done, the vessel was steaming at full speed at 19.4 knots.

The present document is a short summary of the current knowledge of the effects of endocrine disrupters on child health. The main focus is on congenital disorders, cryptorchidism and hypospadias, which have an endocrine connection, on thyroid hormone-related problems, and on puberty. There is ample evidence of endocrine disruption in wildlife, and the mechanisms of action of endocrine disrupters have been elucidated in experimental animals, but there is limited knowledge of the association of human disorders with exposure to endocrine disrupters. Accumulating data suggest that many adult diseases have fetal origins, but the causes have remained unexplained. Improving fetal and child health will influence the whole life of an individual and improve the wellbeing of our society.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II EF 24-105/4L IS USM was my workhorse until I got the Nikon D800 & D800E with the 70-200 mm 2.8 VR2 zoom.
Canon, Nikon, you can't go wrong with the pretty 45surf model goddesses! (Though the D800 is my new love.)
