Principal Operations Researcher, Sasol Technology (Pty) Ltd
Marlize Meyer holds a BSc in Chemistry, a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and an MSc in Operations Research from the North-West University of South Africa. She was also a lecturer at the North-West University in Probability Theory and Simulation. Meyer has worked in various departments in Sasol for the last 20 years and was a founding member of the company’s Decision Support group. She pioneered Stochastic Operations Modeling in Sasol and has guided this work from humble beginnings to international reputation. She is a Franz Edelman Laureate, Tom Rozwadowski Medal recipient, and member of Sasol Chief Executive’s Team of the Year, Sasol Technology’s Customer Support Team of the Year in 2010, and Sasol Technology’s Operations Team of the Year in 2011. The Operations Research Society of South Africa recently awarded Meyer a Category II Recognition Award for her single, outstanding achievement on the practice of operations research at national level. Being passionate about the practice of operations research, her aim has always been to add sustainable value with OR tools and in doing this, she has played a key role in building operations research capacity at Sasol.

Here I was researching different skills ranging from gathering to piping. On this particular page I am researching piping, godets and lace edging, all of which I had never tried before. Also on my skills research I researched: boning, tie dye, batik, Suffolk puffs, French seams, gathering, ruching, lace overlay, soft sculptures, hook and eye tape, darts, rouleau loops, chenille, free machine embroidery and beading embellishment.

From 3 to 5 December 2024, the international space community will meet in Bonn for a forum with the motto 'Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth'. Representatives from industry and research, as well as international organisations, governments and space agencies, will come together to discuss solutions for greater sustainability in space and ways in which space can contribute to sustainable development on Earth. The World Space Forum 2024 is organised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in collaboration with the German Space Agency at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and Peru and the United Arab Emirates.
