This is an example of one of the personas that we developed in the workshop. It describes some typical scenarios for one of the user-types, and breaks down what the clients' services needs to offer in that context (information needs, tone of voice, interaction style, opportunities etc)
I've blurred out sensitive data, but hopefully you get the idea.
I like to try to make personas nice artefacts - they're a tool to be used, not an end in themselves. I think that making them visually attractive encourages teams to keep them within reach.

This year we chose to build on our theme of “every biological record counts” by inviting visitors to contribute their observations of five common insects often seen in gardens: marmalade hoverfly, 7-spot ladybird, tree bumblebee, small tortoiseshell butterfly and oak bush cricket, pictured on the screen here.

Leptocylindrus is a single-celled organism belonging to a group of algae called diatoms. Diatoms are unique among phytoplankton in having a glasslike exterior made of silica. These thin, cylindrical cells usually form chains. These diatoms are commonly seen in coastal waters all over the world. Occasionally a high concentration of Leptocylindrus results in discoloration of seawater to yellowish brown. This genus is nontoxic, and no adverse effects from a bloom of these cells have been reported in Florida’s waters.

Students conducting marine biology research on the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Heron Island, during a 4-day intensive field lab experience with the University of Queensland.
Design Research was America's first "lifestyle store", founded in 1953 by the architect Ben Thompson. The store introduced prominent modern European design brands like Iittala, Artek and Marimekko to the US-Market. Design Research (or D/R) has become the archetype for nearly all specialty retailing in the US.
This recreation of the store, featuring authentic period pieces from Design Research, is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the D/R building at 48 Brattle Street in Harvard Square.
VIMS Professor Emmett Duffy uses small shrimp-like creatures called amphipods to study the effects of biodiversity in experimental seagrass beds. These small shrimp-like creatures thrive in grass beds, providing food for larger Bay organisms.

Coolia monotis is a single-celled organism belonging to a group of algae called dinoflagellates. It is armored, meaning it has a hard outer coating. Coolia monotis is a coastal species that is common worldwide in temperate to tropical waters. It has also been found in oyster beds, brackish (a mixture of saltwater and freshwater) habitats, tidal pools and mangrove environments. This species is most common in warm shallow waters of the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas and Pacific Ocean. This species produces cooliatoxin, a neurotoxin similar to yessotoxin, but its effects on humans are unknown because there are no known reported cases. There have been no reports of illness or other harmful effects from C. monotis in Florida waters.
Research Professor Kelly Nelson talks about Greenley Research Center's latest study that involves researching the effects of subsurface drip irrigation systems for corn and soybeans. Yields will be collected and compared to fields with overhead irrigaiton and a non-irrigated control field. Kelly explains the feeder reel system that was mounted on the tractor. The reels help lay the drip line into the cut trenches.
The 37th Annual Greenley Field Day was held on Aug. 5, 2014 at the center near Novelty, Mo. annual free event included educational talks and demonstrations for farmers and landowners.
