The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math.

No shame. Period. was created to provide period packs, pamphlets, and pants to school nurses to share with their students and help them get what they need and get back to class comfortably and confidently. With the hope to eliminate the shame and stigma of menstruation for this generation of students in Hampton Roads and beyond.

Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science national laboratory. Scientists worldwide utilize the lab’s unique particle accelerator, known as the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), to probe the most basic building blocks of matter - helping us to better understand these particles and the forces that bind them - and ultimately our world.

 

In addition, the lab capitalizes on its unique technologies and expertise to perform advanced computing and applied research with industry and university partners, and provides programs designed to help educate the next generation in science and technology.

Jefferson Lab hosted an afternoon reception in honor of our community of inventors. At this invite-only event, we celebrated inventors' accomplishments with a toast to innovation and a convivial afternoon of conversation and refreshments.

 

Our keynote speaker is Parikha Mehta, Special Advisor to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO.)

The Hampton University Graduate Studies (HUGS) Summer Program at Jefferson Lab is an internationally renowned summer program in Nuclear Physics designed to train the nuclear workforce's next generation of researchers.

Through research entitled Scaling Jurisdictional Approaches in the Indonesian Palm Oil Sector, CIFOR-ICRAF and partners aim to increase the readiness of four palm oil producing regions to implement jurisdictional programmes (JPs) through a participatory, multistakeholder and gender-inclusive approach, and synthesize lessons learned from regency-level studies to strengthen sustainable palm oil initiatives at the national level.

 

This workshop is a forum for national actors to disseminate and discuss relevant issues, and produce recommendations that can contribute to strengthening relationships between JPs and international market demand, advertising-based certification initiatives and national and regional policies.
