All that remains of the former Fredericks Hall, VA depot is its simple concrete foundation and the repurposed telegraph pole that's now only a spotlight for a local restaurant as a Buckingham Branch crew brings a westbound CSX empty coal train along the jointed trackage of the former Piedmont Subdivision on the afternoon of November 15, 2020.

Taken on a farm on Vancouver island, this is a picture of an old engine whole holes have bee filled with plants, lichens and pools of water.

An abandoned mill, now inhabited by a pair of redtalk hawks, lots of pigeons and who-knows-all.

I shot the photo Saturday in sunlight, with high, thin clouds. In processing my raw file with PS Elements, I added clouds from an older image, using multiply blend mode. I then used a Nik Silver Efex preset (with slight adjustment) at 43% opacity to keep some color. Finished if off with a little dodging to lighten the area around the hawk, and with a vignette for the edges. My intent was to create dark and unsettling, using my digital darkroom.

I really like this wooden bench made with repurposed cart wheels. Seen at an open day at Green Road Gardens back in the summer HBM! greenroadgardens.ie/

I spotted this bicycle up on the roof of this building and thought what a good idea for the owner to use it for an art piece instead of tossing it out.

The natural environment of Pateira de Fermentelos is amazing. There, we have a huge mirror of water, the largest natural pond of Europe, and an autoctone natural habitat. These last years, there is an invasive acquatic plant species (Jacinto-de-água) that is infesting the pond and endangering the environment. Even, this old boat has been taken by them. It was naturally repurposed...

Thanks to Skeletalmess for the textures.

Built in Aug. 1939 by General American as a six-compartment wine car, D&RGW AX-2946 was wrecked on the Rio Grande, and repurposed as an outfit gang Water Car. One of a kind on the D&RGW, the car was photographed at Soldier Summit, Utah on May 20, 1989.

This one has the covered button sets with the lining covering the buttons too, A big DOT design with dots here and there to coordinate with the dotted lining. Great big rick rack curves up the front too.

The buildings in this historic mill complex date from 1850 till about 1890. They were used to manufacture wool, cotton, paper bags, and then, finally, chocolate from the early 1900s till World War II. More recently the old mill buildings have been renovated and repurposed as retail, dining and office space. Ballston Spa, New York.

CSX SD50-2 #8632 and SD24T4 #1724 drag a brand new empty rail train through the East end of Selkirk Yard on a typical, partly sunny, Spring afternoon. The #8632 is the last remaining SD50 on CSX’s operational roster, which put a smile on my face seeing it facing the right way here on one of the remote control pull down jobs.

Aurizon’s 6042 & 6024 round their way through Ravensworth with a string of empty AGAH hoppers to Moree Agripark from Carrington as 4557. These particular wagons were former QHAH/QHBH coal hoppers which were converted for use in transporting grain loads.

Lancaster Castle is old. It's been a fortress, a prison, a court, execution site, and now tourist attraction. There's a pretty good cafe, too 😄

Happy Telegraph Tuesday!

This china button began its life as a plate! Threaded through it is a piece of silk ribbon, which was once a sari. :)

For this week's Looking Close... on Friday group theme, Reusable or Recycled.

Exploring rural Prince Edward County.

This outfit is probably beyond my repair abilities. Not only have two seams popped the waistband appears to have been 'shattered' where some stain has eaten through the fabric. But I've always wanted a pattern...I think I'll see if I can't make a pattern. :-)

The doll is my Fashion Queen. She needs some paint touch ups, but looks cute in this more modern wig.

i worked on this bag last night,

and i have someone in mind :o)

An old school house in rural Wisconsin repurposed into a family home.

This last winter we decided to remove our old cast iron wood-burning stove and replace it with a stove that burns propane. It was a tough decision, but with me working away during the week and Marg not able to physically cut wood, it made sense. Plus, the propane burns much cleaner than wood, and I won't miss those pesky rats that loved to nest in the woodpile.

It seemed a shame to cart the old stove off to the scrap heap, so Marg decided to incorporate it into the garden. Our long rainy season helped to dress it in a beautiful coat of rust. I think it looks pretty good.
