Note for my americans followers :
In France "republican" isn't as strongly tied to a party as it is in the US. We do have the party "Les Républicains", which was once a big party... Then did only 4,7% on the presidential elections of 2022.
Here "Republican" is tied to this street "Le Boulevard de la République".

"We are the party of white racial grievance. We believe those marching in Black Lives Matter protests are “thugs.” We see the term “systemic racism” as an unfair attack on white people. We support keeping Confederate monuments on their pedestals, and we have no idea why anyone would consider Confederate flags a problem. We are equal-opportunity racists. We see Latino immigrants as “bad hombres.” And we believe that using the racist term “kung flu” to describe covid-19 is hilarious, not least because we are convinced the covid-19 pandemic is basically over, anyway. Who cares what pointy-headed “experts” might say, we know in our hearts that patriotic Americans don’t wear masks." - Eugene Robinson, Columnist, The Washington Post

Another story for you!!! LOL!!
On May 20, I made it to Saulsalito!! Walking around the Marina, I saw this and wondered for a split second if I was in India. LOL!!
I saw a guy coming out of his houseboat and as inquiry mind wants to know asked about the Taj Mahal. He said: "You're right, it's is a miniature copy of the Taj Mahal, the owner, a rich lady, wanted a replica of the real, and they say the inside design and decor is very true to the real. She comes once a year, with her servants, in a limo, spends a day here mostly inside and away from Inquiry Miiiiiiinds and leaves by night"!!!
A daaaaaaaaaay, I said!! WOW!!! and continued "you have a beautiful boathouse!!! He said, mame, this is a houseboat, the kind you live in, not a boathouse, there is a difference, if you don't mind me correcting youd"!!!
Woah!!! I hate to be put in place like that!!! So I made a mistake, so I said with a big smile and dumb look: " Oh! i forgot to mention I am dyslexic with compound words and come to think of it with regular ones too, such as: aks, nukelar..." He interrupted me and said "Are you Republican??"
I said: " Don't know about that but I am Armeniiian??!!!" He looked up from his house-boat -house, stared surprised, and we both cracked up laughing to tears and bended in two!!! He said a great one there little lady, do you mind me telling this story to my friends?? I said go ahead coz I'll be telling it to mine!!!!"
P.S. Forgot to mention that I told him his boathouse was really pretty ( it really was!!!). He wasn't impressed but said thank you!!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!!
While Mitch McConnell and other Republicans have hinted that their opposition to investment in the Big Three is all about busting the unions, Jim DeMint refreshingly came out and admitted it yesterday on NPR.
Norris: Now, you know the unions are saying this is also a political ploy on the part of the Republicans to try get rid of unions and use the auto industry troubles to do just that.
Besides cutting union wages in half,,lets get rid of those other corporate headaches like health care, paid holidays, paid overtime, vacations, child labor laws, anti-discrimination, equal rights, mine safety, weekends, retirement benefits, any benefits,,,
and everything the unions have fought and died for for the last 100 years,,,

1985 fue de un período gubernamental nefasto para la economía nacional, marcado por la lucha contra el terrorismo y el ornato de la vieja ciudad quedó estancado, cuando no en abandono.

Even before the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump refused to agree to abide by the results, but only if he lost. As the pandemic made it more difficult for people to vote and mail-in voting was encouraged, he suggested the possibility of mass fraud should people be allowed to vote by mail. And when he lost the election by almost 8 million votes and 74 Electoral College votes, he refused to concede. In fact, he broadcasted loud and clear, the election was stolen from him. He and his legal team filed 63 lawsuits in 5 battleground states. Courts dismissed or rejected all of them. And, when that didn’t produce the results he wanted, he unsuccessfully pressured the Georgia Secretary of State, Republican Brad Raffensperger, of find 11,780 votes (one more than Joe Biden’s victory) to overturn the state’s election results. In Trump’s mind, the only thing left was to lean on the Senate and the House and on Vice President Mike Pence to reject the certified Electoral College votes in his favor. The Congressional counting of the votes, which, in the past had been a pro forma event signifying the peaceful transfer of power, became a lightning rod for conspiracy theorists who vowed to protest this January 6, 2021 ceremony.
Earlier that day, Donald Trump gave an impassioned speech, filled with lies, to thousands of supporters. Riled up by his words, they walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to the US Capitol yelling “Take back the steal!” Hundreds went further and broke into the Capitol building, breaking glass windows, yelling and screaming, while Congress had counted the Electoral votes. They broke into the Senate and House Chambers as the Capitol police spirited away legislators. And four civilians and one Capitol police officer died in the violence.
We must hold Donald Trump accountable for inciting this insurrection. He was not alone. His son, Donald Jr., Rudy Giuliani, and Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks also stoked discontent at that rally. They, too, are responsible, as are legislators like Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley.
Characteristically, Trump refused to take any responsibility for his actions. He stated, “If you analyze my speech…everyone said it was totally appropriate.” He reiterated his claim that attempts to impeach him (now, for the second time) is “the greatest and most vicious witch hunt in American history.”
For some Republican legislators, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Outgoing Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, made it clear his disdain for the president’s actions and stated that he would allow any Senator in the Republican caucus to vote as they saw fit on an impeachment vote. The third-ranking Republican in the House, Lynne Cheney (R-WY) announced she would vote for impeachment stating, “The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flames of this attack. … None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.”
Donald Trump is now losing the support of his Republican Party. If GOP leaders in Congress want to rid the party of Trump’s influence and the autocratic effects of his rule and rhetoric, now’s the time to do it. If they refuse to convict him for impeachable offenses, he will continue to define the Republican Party and steer it towards the extreme edge. This will give white supremacists a toe-hold on American politics for years to come. Donald Trump has trampled America's democracy, and he has taken part in sedition and encouraging insurrection. This time, his actions are clear.

Americans have lost confidence in their government. We no longer trust our legislators and the Supreme Court to solve our country’s problems: income inequality, affordable health care, a woman's right to decide what’s best for her health, the economy, and climate change. Governance has become a series of battles. It’s no longer just political ideology. We are at war over cultural issues while our politicians ignore our basic needs.
The morals of our GOP legislators and their sycophants are just as important as their economic policy. How can we trust a party that Alex Patton, a Florida-based Republican consultant and pollster, has characterized as a party that “has become mean and driven by emotion on whom we dislike.”? “But,” he says, “that is the driving force in American politics right now.” That is the driving force of the GOP, not the Democrats. This is not an example of the equality of "bothsidesism."
In my essay, “It’s Time to Release Our Own Kraken!” I outlined the history of the Republican Party’s “below the belt” tactics. They continue to be underhanded to this day. But with the low level of civility in our present polarized country, many Republican legislators now in office have hit new ethical lows.
As a visual artist who has spent over a decade creating posters about the sorry state of American political discourse, this year I began a new series of portraits, “Faces of the Republican Party.” The men and women in this series deserve to be taken to task for their unwillingness to compromise, belief in conspiracy theories, and disdain for the LGBTQ+ community, women’s rights, and our children’s education. The purpose of our government is to solve our nation’s problems. It’s not a place for personal vendettas or manufactured cultural issues.
“Faces of the Republican Party” is not a partisan series of portraits. Merriam-Webster defines the word as “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person, especially one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.” The people depicted in these images are the partisans. Instead, my series is a documentary and op-ed showcasing the facts in 2022. All of these people had a hand in trying to overthrow the government. These images are MAGA Republicans who put their blind allegiance to Donald Trump and their careers ahead of the needs of the American people.
The results of the 2022 midterm elections showed we are tired of autocratic and self-absorbed politicians. We would simply like our officials to do the jobs we elected them to do. Everyone deserves a piece of American Exceptionalism. As it stands, there is nothing exceptional about the tribalism these people promote.
Republicans are perfect examples of Patton’s “driving force.” This force is dirty, mean, misogynistic, selfish, and wastes our tax dollars. These people are just a small sampling of individuals responsible for the loss of credibility and faith in America’s institutions. And worse, they couldn’t care less.

In this wonderful old photograph, two buxom Irish ladies stand proudly in front of a Fenian Flag* bearing an Irish Harp and emblazoned with "Erin Go Bragh,"* the motto that for centuries rallied the Irish in their fight for freedom and recognition. Decked out in their finery, each lady has fastened her shawl with an Irish Harp clasp.
There is nothing written on the back of this photographic postcard to give a clue as to location, but the seller supplied the information that the occasion of the picture was St. Patrick's Day in New York City. The photograph can be dated to between 1909 and 1914 by the VELOX stamp box on the back, which has four triangles pointing up (one in each corner of the stamp box).
------------------------------------------
*The Fenian Flag (an unofficial Irish flag) with a gold harp on a green background has served since 1798 as a symbol of Irish nationalism. The Fenians were established in Ireland and the United States in 1858 with the avowed purpose of overthrowing British rule in Ireland and establishing an Irish Republic. In Ireland the Fenians were also known as the Irish Republican Brotherhood.
*Erin Go Bragh (sometimes seen as Erin Go Braugh) is the Anglicisation of a Gaelic phrase used to express allegiance to Ireland. It is most often translated as "Ireland Forever."
A NOTE ON THIS PICTURE: This picture appeared alongside an article in which the author made a case against people across the political spectrum incorrectly using the term Nazi to identify one's political ideology. The correct analogy would be to equate Obama's policies with those of the National Socialist Party.
Do I believe that Obama is a Nazi? No, that is ludicrous, but the article was a hard-hitting critique of the controversy surrounding people slinging the term Nazi around these days, hence the photo was appropriate. If it offends you, look away.
Thanks for reading.
