We saw two king snakes and one gopher snake on a recent hike. It's the first time I've seen any snakes here on the Harmony Headlands trail!

*THIS was the primary reason for the trip to Central Australia. Our group saw a total of three wild adults and one DOR immature. I was so lucky to be by myself when this one came out of the tall grass RIGHT IN FROUNT OF ME! I couldn't freaking believe it! The Perentie is the world's third largest lizard species, and Australia's largest lizard. I have heard that they can give quite a wallop with their tail, and that they have a strong (and extremely painful) bite. They are a wonder!

"The flowers are nice, but it's still the flies I prefer." Spring brings the return of the reptiles and this one was speeding through the wildflowers tracking it's flying morning breakfast. Mojave desert, CA.
This guy was vigorously defending his territory, although I didn't see another anole.
