In March WINGS team was in Chimaltenango to provide a surgical permanent procedure to 9 mothers who decided not to have more children. Our patients were very happy with the service they received and grateful for having an option to decide on whether they wanted to have more children or not. Some mothers are only 25-26 years old and already have 4-5 children - they know that by deciding not to have any more, they will be able to provide for the children they already have, give them education and proper nutrition and take care of their future.

The law has drawn national headlines and several legal challenges. The U.S. Supreme Court refused a request to block the law, though its constitutionality has yet to be decided.
