The name anemone comes from the Greek word for "windflower." According to Greek mythology, the anemone sprang from Aphrodite's tears as she mourned the death of Adonis.
Thought to bring luck and protect against evil, legend has it that when the anemone closes its petals, it's a signal that rain is approaching.
Still other mythology connects the anemone to magical fairies, who were believed to sleep under the petals after they closed at sunset. Perhaps it's because of this magical and prophetic tales that today in the language of flowers, anemones represent anticipation

Las Tablas son uno de los últimos representantes de un ecosistema denominado tablas fluviales que se forman al desbordarse los ríos en sus tramos medios, favorecidos por fenómenos de semiendorreísmo y la escasez de pendientes. El humedal se forma en la confluencia del río Guadiana y su afluente Cigüela y es uno de los ecosistemas acuáticos más importantes de la península ibérica por la variedad y calidad de la fauna y flora que habitan en ella, así como por aquellas aves que la emplean en los pasos migratorios. Las Tablas sirve de refugio a más de 2.000 especies (plantas, aves, insectos, peces, réptiles... ).
Sin embargo, la supervivencia del parque peligra debido a la sobreexplotación de los acuíferos. Debido a esta degradación, el 22 de octubre de 2009 la Comisión Europea abre un expediente a España,6 mientras que la Unesco ya había expresado con anterioridad la posibilidad de retirar la figura de Reserva de la Biosfera. La Unesco abrió un expediente contra España a instancias de la denuncia presentada en noviembre de 2007 por las organizaciones ecologistas (Ecologistas en Acción, Greenpeace, SEO/BirdLife y WWF); en ella se argumentaba que la Reserva de la Biosfera de La Mancha Húmeda y, en especial, Las Tablas de Daimiel, presentaban un alto nivel de degradación que suponía la pérdida de los valores que las habían hecho merecedoras de la calificación como Reserva de la Biosfera.

Le tympan se situe au-dessus du portail nord de l'église abbatiale. Chef-d'œuvre du xie siècle, il compte parmi les premiers tympans sculptés de l'art roman. La scène représentée est tirée de L'Apocalypse, dernier livre du Nouveau Testament. L'Apocalypse est également le thème du Beatus, dont le tympan tire probablement son influence. Au centre, le Christ en gloire est inscrit dans une mandorle. Assis sur un trône, il lève sa main droite dans un geste de bénédiction et tient un livre dans sa main gauche. Un séraphin se tient à sa droite, un chérubin à sa gauche. Les représentations symboliques des quatre Évangélistes son autour de lui, même si deux ont aujourd'hui disparu. Il symbolise la victoire du Christ sur le péché. À la droite du lion ailé, l'ange pose sa main sur la tête de Jean, à qui est révélée la scène et auteur de L'Apocalypse. Par ce geste, l'ange invite Jean à se prosterner devant le Christ
Un tableau représentant l'arrivée de la reine Victoria au Tréport lors de sa visite en France en 1843 atteste la présence d'un phare, qui figure également sur un croquis de 1845 de Joseph Mallord William Turner et sur un plan de 1829 représentant les principaux phares de la Seine-inférieure conservé aux Archives nationales. En 1846, le peintre Auguste Jugelet grave une estampe montrant le phare dans sa première version.

Se trata de uno de los pajarillos más representativos de la pequeña fauna alada de las montañas del centro y norte peninsular, el "rebautizado" por no se sabe muy bien quién y menos aún en base a qué criterios como ruiseñor pechiazul; el pechiazul de toda la vida, vamos. O el pechi, para los amigos (Luscinia svecica).
Para mí se trata de una especie fetiche a la que regreso cada temporada con ganas de pasar algunas horas en su compañía. Da igual el volumen de imágenes que tenga de ella, uno no se cansa de fotografiarla. Por fortuna, los toques de queda han quedado atrás y las últimas luces del día las podemos aprovechar en el campo sin tener que regresar corriendo a nuestros cubiles. A las 21:30 de ayer aún estábamos haciendo algunas fotos, apurando el sol rasante ya. Imagen de ayer mismo, tras varios intentos en los que, aún localizando diversos machos, las fotografías realizadas no fueron nada del otro mundo. Estas últimas, aun dejándome satisfecho, son demasiado similares a las de años anteriores, así que ... habrá que darle alguna vuelta a la especie, a ver si somos capaces de hacer algo más original. Será algo que quedará pendiente probablemente para nuevas temporadas.

Le parc national de Þingvellir est près de la municipalité de Bláskógabyggð, en Islande. Ce parc se situe au sud-ouest de l'Islande, en bordure des Hautes Terres, sur la rive nord de Þingvallavatn, le plus grand lac naturel d'Islande.
L'église Þingvallakirkja a été consacrée au 11e siècle mais reconstruit en 1859 et la Þingvallabaer est une ferme à 5 pignons édifiée dans les années 1930. Ces édifices logent aujourd'hui le centre administratif du parc et la maison d'été du premier Ministre de l'Islande.
L’aire protégée de Þingvellir regroupe plusieurs montagnes, volcans, lacs, cours d'eau et une forêt. Le site, célèbre pour sa beauté naturelle et son histoire, est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO depuis 2004 (WHL-1152).
Þingvellir (islandais), anglicisé comme Thingvellir, était le site en plein air de l'Althing, assemblée plénière représentant l'ensemble de l'Islande, qui s'est tenu à partir de 930 jusqu'en 1798. Durant une session annuelle qui durait une quinzaine de jours, l'assemblée élaborait des lois conçues comme des pactes entre hommes libres et réglait les différends. Pour la population islandaise, l'Althing est un lieu aux profondes résonances historiques et symboliques. Le nom Þingvellir est d’ailleurs dérivé du vieux norrois Þingvǫllr, de þing ("thing, assembée") et vǫllr ("champ"), signifiant champs d'assemblage.
Depuis 1881, le parlement islandais est situé à Alþingishúsið à Reykjavík.

This digital creation represents my feelings about the current state of things in the country I love.
Although painted to represent a USAAC OA-10 Catalina based in Halesworth, Suffolk in WW2, this is actually an ex Canadian example which served the RCAF as '11005'.
The original 433915 aircraft operated out of Halesworth airfield in the role of air sea rescue during 1945 and on 30th March that year after landing to provide help to of all things another stricken flying boat the aircraft lost use of one engine. With high seas that meant she was stuck just a few miles off the Dutch coast. Whilst bobbing around on the surf on the first night a pair of ME210's strafed the Catalina to such an extent that she was listing and no longer airworthy. Four days later after enduring constant seasickness and regular immersion in freezing sea water the crew were rescued by a launch sent out from Great Yarmouth. A second launch then destroyed and sank the Catalina rather than have her fall into enemy hands.
For the above reasons the preservation society chose to adopt the identity of the sunken sister aircraft. The preserved aircraft is now based at Duxford with Catalina Aircraft Ltd.

La iglesia actual, construida entre 1945 y 1955 tras la destrucción del anterior edificio del siglo XV durante la Guerra Civil, sigue un proyecto de los arquitectos Francisco y Federico Somolinos. 2 Originalmente de estilo gótico y con numerosos añadidos posteriores, en la actualidad es de estilo historicista inspirado en el románico y el prerrománico asturiano.
This represents a technical comparison between two developers: Karl Matthias' custom designed 2B-1 Divided developer, and PMK Pyro.
This image is from the 120 format Adox CHS 100 II negative developed in 2B-1 for 4 minutes in each bath. The half of the roll developed in 2B-1 had about a stop more density in general than the PMK half of the roll, which was no surprise, as PMK is known for sucking up some of the exposure, and 2B-1 is stated as delivering a speed boost between 1/2 and 1 stop. With a film like Adox CHS 100 II, this can come in handy, since I find it doesn't really offer full box speed without overdeveloping it, something I avoid doing.
2B-1 doesn't handle the grain structure with as much "diplomacy" as the PMK does (again, no surprise), but it does deliver better shadow information. Tonal separation and acutance is excellent. Well worth including in the arsenal of developer recipes, IMO.

Dès lors, PITAYA élabore chaque année des projets autour de la lumière et les expose dans ces nouveaux festivals urbains, véritables vitrines à ciel ouvert.
Le studio privilégie une démarche d’auteur, à base de recherches et d’expérimentations. Cette phase donnera à son tour naissance à de nombreux concepts qui deviendront des objets finalisés. L'échange permanent entre technique et artistique permet au studio d’appréhender un projet depuis un concept, mais aussi d’une envie plus tangible d’utiliser une technologie nouvelle ou d’aborder un procédé de fabrication précis.
La lumière est le principal fil conducteur de leurs réalisations et le duo s’épanouit dans de multiples créations, entre objet lumière, luminaire et installation artistique. Ils travaillent généralement la lumière comme un matériau polyvalent qui révèle et souligne les formes de leurs objets. Leurs productions modifient l’espace dans lequel elles s’intègrent, faisant naître des perceptions et des expériences nouvelles.
Depuis sa création, PITAYA milite pour un design à dimension humaine, où artisanat et création cohabitent intelligemment. Leurs productions ont gagné une renommée internationale et ont été exposées à Tokyo, Londres, Dubaï, Moscou, Genève, Beijing, Singapour ou Baltimore.

Cuando la elección en el segundo día del cónclave de cardenales que elegiría a Jorge Bergoglio(Papa Francisco) un episodio inesperado captó la atención de millones de personas que esperaban el humo blanco.
En la previa de la segunda fumata, una gaviota se posó sobre la chimenea de la Capilla Sixtina;
La primera teoría de los fieles apuntó a que se trataba de una paloma que indicaba la supuesta presencia del Espíritu Santo (el catolicismo suele representarlo con esa ave), inspirando la elección papal; de ahí en más se sumó otra decena de especulaciones que llegó al extremo con la hipótesis de que el pájaro escondía un mensaje apocalíptico.
Sin embargo, la Agencia Informativa Catolica Argentina (AICA), órgano de difusión del arzobispado local, sumó un dato que alimentó el misticismo del mensaje porque, casualidad o no, podría haber indicado la inminente elección de un Papa argentino.
"Quienes no saben distinguir las distintas especies de aves, suponían que era una paloma (...). En realidad, la aposentada en la chimenea de la fumata era una gaviota de la especie Larus argentatus", aseguró AICA.
"Larus es el nombre genérico de las gaviotas, y argentatus hace referencia a su color blanco, color que en heráldica se llama plata (argentum), lo mismo que el nombre del país de donde proviene el nuevo papa: Argentina, cuyo nombre se deriva del Río de la Plata, el río más ancho del mundo, sobre el que se recuesta la ciudad de Buenos Aires, llamada por ello “La Reina del Plata”, que hasta este momento era gobernada eclesiásticamente por el nuevo pontífice", concluyó.

This image represents the western part of the supernova remnant. I have taken this image under not completetly darkened skies. First I took the Ha images, then after 2:00 am (moon was set), I took the OIII data.
For blending channels, I used "Pixelmath" in Pixinsight. This is the "classical" HOO image. H-alpha to red only and OIII to green and blue. The red is coming out best this way, I think. When I take e.g. 30% ha in the green, the red is more orange like.
I also made an artificial luminance image and added the ha channel to the OIII channel. After that, I did my common processing steps (DBE, Deconvolution, Morphological Transformation, HDR,Unsharp mask...).
I am qute happy with the data I have captured in just 3 hours.
