Reposting this image. Back in the 1980s, not too long after my mother died, I painted this watercolor portrait of Mom and Aunt Edy, painted in acrylic watermedia, working from an old black-and-white snapshot. I grew up in an extended family household, with my mother, my father; my aunt, uncle, and cousin. I am reposting this on Mother's Day, to honor my mother's memory, and also to honor my Aunt Edy, who also was part of the committee that raised me, and who in many ways has been filling in for my mother since 1984.
This is a shot I took about 6 months ago when working in St Ives. I think this works better as the blue sky comes out...
information for those who are interested. I have an operation tomorrow for my shoulder and MAY be able to go back to climbing afterwards YAY! But before then 3 - 6 months of recovery and physio..

Out of operation and home now... Well in london home.
Arm in strapped up sling and popping pills to dull the ache every 4 hours.
Camera is impossible when using left hand!
She was just waking up when I captured this. Funny little girl! I guess you can be more pretzel-like when you are missing a limb. She was actually sleeping like this!
