REPOST: This is a update of this previously posted picture. Early this morning (9/7/21) there was a two car collision at the intersection on the right side of the picture and the accident pushed a car into a man who was sleeping in the encampment. The car had to be lifted off of the man, but fortunately he was sleeping on a couch and thus he wasn't slammed against the sidewalk. Per the LA Times report , he was alert and speaking when medics arrived; he was transported to a trauma center (thankfully our hospitals are not swamped with Covid patients).
Previous description of the picture:
On the eastern edge of Koreatown section of Los Angeles, the two intersections show in this and adjacent pictures are about 3 blocks apart. Google Street view does not show any camping for this area on Virgil; Feb, 2021 was the date of the most recent street view for this location.

One of my very favorite portraits of one of my favorite subjects. Here's what I wrote almost 3 years ago:
"The little Red Squirrels do seem to always be smiling --- perhaps that is why I enjoy them so much. No matter what is going on in my "human world" I can always take a peak outside and find someone smiling at me."

Alas, I have not seen a single little Red Squirrel in MONTHS!! That means not here, not just up the road at my old home, not scampering across the roads anywhere, not even dead in the road. 3 years ago I did not have running water at my house, did not have TV, and had to work very hard at keeping my home warm by being able to throw 60+ pound propane tanks up, under, and around a tight opening to hook them up. Last night I had a cozy fire, plenty of water flowing out of any tap, and of course the TV on tuned to a news station. I would trade all of that for just one little tiny Red visitor to smile at me and tell me everything will turn out all right.
