Currently in my shop, KIBSTER VINTAGE.

This gorgeous globe features seas the color of parchment and vanilla lattes. This 12 inch globe is one of the "Globemaster" series by Replogle. It sits on a caramel-colored metal base, and has a semi-circular metal mount.

The globe has raised relief, in which changes in land elevation are indicated by the surface texture. At the top of the globe is a separate translucent caramel-colored time dial.

Based on a guide to dating globes on the Replogle web site, this globe was made in 1991. It is a snapshot of history - for example, Russia was still the U.S.S.R. at that time (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

According to replogleglobes.com, Luther Replogle founded the company in 1930 by selling hand-assembled globes from his Chicago apartment. Replogle founded ScanGlobe in 1963. The company continues to make globes today.

The nearest I can nail down the date of this globe is around 1945-6. Isreal is not yet on it and Korea is labeled as "Chosen (Jap)". No Pakistan either. I figure this one was made right around the end of WW2. A nice full ring metal meridian on half round spherical base with outer vent flanges in an art deco style.

This 12 inch globe is one of the "World Classic" series by Replogle. It sits on a hardwood base.

It shows the rotation direction of the Earth, the International Date Line, city populations, capitals, elevations, depths in feet, and steamship routs (nautical miles). The globe has raised relief, in which changes in land elevation are indicated by the surface texture. At the top of the globe is a separate small taupe-colored time scale.

I just pulled this Replogle globe out of storage upon finishing my library - I was wondering how old it was. When I couldn't find a copyright date, I did some web searching and I found a Replogle site that uses country names to indicate when a globe was manufactured. Cool - mine is from 1945.

One thing we don't show off enough: our fun selection of globes! This is our light-up line-up, featuring five different #globes in different price ranges for different audiences. I personally adore the Orion (top left) because it just looks absolutely stunning in a dark room -- a perfectly mellow but strikingly modern nightlamp. The black oceans and the white graticule lines just never disappoint. A bold choice without being really in anyone's face, a statement piece without all the yelling. I won't lie, though... that Livingston is also pretty cool because it's like our kitchen sink globe. When unlit, it shows the physical environments and landforms, perfectly complementing the textural element of raised relief features ("mountain bumps"). When lit, it shows political boundaries displaying the countries of the world, casting a cool but calming aura in the room it illuminates -- a peaceful world indeed. Although, I do like the simplicity and portability of the Terrene because it charges with a USB and can go anywhere, especially an office desk's nook. Ack! So many options, plus a whole catalog of beautiful Replogle Globes Partners LLC choices that can be delivered in 2-3 business days right to your door? Looks like #Santa needs to stop by "The Earth Store***" to make #Christmas a little merrier! 111 E.
