This whole nose cone is going away. It split right across, the section under the front window was dry-rotted anyway, and propane really does not belong in an enclosure right next to my bed. The batteries are going to move back and the propane will come out onto the nose.
The owner was sitting nearby and had no idea why I was taking a photo of his old bicycle. I just liked his use of a zip-tie to secure his shifter lever's position.

Makerspace 125 in Greenbelt, Maryland held a Repair Cafe where people brought in broken items while volunteers tried to fix them so they wouldn't get tossed in the trash and ultimately end up in a landfill. This event took place on March 28, 2015.

The 23k water gilding on this section had been destroyed prior to arriving at my studio and the client preferred the decayed state. So, in this photo my assistant is attempting to remove the remaining oxidized metal paint that had been applied over the original surface. She had previously used solvents to dissolve most of the inappropriate painting. She then applied a wash of tinted latex to blend the colours of the background and the remainder of the medallion. It was finished off with a neutral wax.

Есть что-то мистическое в таких фотографиях, когда светом выхватываются только основные детали сюжета, оставляя всё лишнее и ненужное в тени. Мы позвонили нашим друзьям из автосервиса The GARAGE и договорились с ними о съёмке. Целый день мы наблюдали за их работой стараясь быть как можно более незаметными, не лезть под руки механикам, тщетно пытались не выгвоздаться и фиксировали интересные моменты, чтобы получить естественные снимки. Но и от постановки мы тоже не смогли отказаться, поскольку вся обстановка и атмосфера места съёмки этому способствовала.

I disassembled it, planed the boards, drilled holes in the sides, made dowels out of pencils and glued it back together with the help of the dowels, some rope, five new boards across the bottom, and two bottles of glue! it was a lot of work but wood is very expensive in Uganda due to deforestation, and they said the repair of this table would save the ministry a lot of money. I also really enjoy woodworking, so i had fun too.

The repair work to my blistered drawing involves scraping away the damaged areas and re-drawing and re-varnishing. Lots of extra hours put into this drawing because of a framer's mistake.

Scotts brand of lawn fertilizer spreaders are made well - except for the stirring agitator that keeps the adjustable slot from clogging. But the agitator is flimsy. Instead of throwing out the spreader, purchase a 7/16 inch deep socket (used by mechanics to remove nuts or bolts). Drill a hole about an inch from the end and insert something rigid. A large cotter key is used in this photo.
