This is something I've been doing over the last few days (I took some time off work over half term). This is the gap between our house and our neighbour's, which has our side passages, and doors and fences at the street end, all of which were very rotten. The first picture shows the rotten fencing and also shows how the beam which goes above the two doors has rotted completely through in the middle (because the gutter on the roof behind the doors was leaking - you can just see a bit of this roof in the picture). It also shows the trellis on the ground, which pretty much fell off when I'd removed all the rose (the stump of the rose is on the right) and ivy which was covering it.

The second picture shows how it looks now, with new trellis (I couldn't buy one the right size, so I made this to fit) and new fencing, new shiplap fascia boards above the doors and new tongue-and-groove fence panels, all pained in grey undercoat, waiting for a final coat of black gloss. What you can't see is the new beam running above the doors from one side to the other, the repaired guttering and the join from the fascia boards to the roof behind to stop water getting in.

It's been quite fun doing this. My neighbours get back from holiday this weekend so it'll be a nice surprise for them (don't worry, they knew I was going to be doing this).

Louisville, Kentucky PCC Streetcar #1062 is seen laying over for mechanical reasons between Howard and Mission Streets in San Francisco, CA. Meanwhile Milan Car #1893 from Milan, Italy is seen being towed by a Breda LRV back to Metro East. Due to an apparent pantograph problem on the PCC and brake issues on the Milan car, MUNI and MSRy crews were busy with repairs today.

I've started the Por-15 repair kit I ordered from Classic Honda Restoration. I have to say, I'm not impressed with the stripper's ability to remove the previous (and terrible) job of the Kreem sealer.

There's still a good amount I'm going to have to strip and remove through other means.

I picked up a combination of BB's and Sling Shot rounds to shake around with the Metal Ready solvent and break free any rust and debris.

P.S. Just a warning. The POR-15 stripper has the sour odor of vomit. Make sure where ever you're working is well ventilated.

This is a repaired copy of a photo already in my photostream. It had a strand of fencing through the middle of the photo. This is the first time I tried to take something so large out of a photo. It was through the trees, the horses neck and again across the trees on the other side. Please let me know what you think of it now. I'm actually feeling a little stupid for procrastinating these repairs for so long. One doll has all her hooks and the other two are restrung without hooks. I'm also impressed that they are standing on their own.

I'm re-rooting one head and keeping these two as is for now. They'll go on to the dressing and final clean up stages.

I have plans for the accident victim, but will try that at a later date.

Since the newest photos appear first, you will have to scroll a ways through these photos to see what happened to my Shox as I was wearing them one day. The dangling Shox pod and all.

In the interim, I had tied some wire under the pod to keep it from dragging, but it slipped out from time to time, and then the other side came apart and was dragging the same way.

I wanted a repair that was quick and simple. I thought of adhesives, but I've found that they tend to fail when flexed. So I ended up stringing a wire through the heel knotted under the heel and under the insole inside the shoe.

That kept the heel from flopping under the toebox, but, as you can see from some of these photos, it still shifted side to side. Totally wearable but strange feeling as the pods slipped out one side and then the other.

I realized I could pull the slack of the wire into the sneaker holding the pod and heel more in place, and just bend it over under my foot to keep it in place. I also dispensed with the insoles. I had thought that standing on the knot in the wire would hurt my heels, but I really don't even feel it.

So the first two of these pictures show the modified repair, which so far seems to work. If this doesn't hold up, I'll dispense with the Shox pods and have yet another pair of shoes with negative "lift". I'm sure that will be fine.
