I've taken shots of REO trucks several times, but I don't recall ever seeing a REO car before. Unfortunately, I don't know the year of this one. Perhaps my friends in Lansing, Michigan will be able to tell me. I have to think the wheels aren't the originals and may be a hint of what's under the hood.

Motometers were popular on old trucks and cars. I've noticed that many looked essentially the same. The only difference is that they often displayed the brand name of the car or truck in the center of the glass circle. Thus, this one says REO while most Fords display "Ford", My guess is that many were made by the same company, with the brand name being the only significant difference between them.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the music group REO Speedwagon. What I never knew is that they got their name from a truck called the REO Speedwagon until I discovered one at the Motor Transport Museum. This truck is technically not a Speedwagon, but another model by REO - but a little placard on the grill explained all that. Quite frankly, I was delighted to discover that REO Speedwagon meant something and was not just some cool sounding name cooked up by a buncha guys playing guitars and a drum (and singing some pretty sappy songs!)

SO, here is my homage to REO.
