I do hope you like her - she's my best friend. She gives back all the love she receives and much, much more.

Done with love ...

Thanks for all your faves and comments my friends, life's been tough recently (no I'm not starving or homeless and I'm not a refugee, thank goodness). Just had to show you one of my most beloved beings on this earth.

Butterflies are now visiting my local library garden though only saw three. I was able to isolate this against pavement background. Then edited in NIK High Key to remove background shadows and distraction. Added a very subtle tint to white background in Lightroom.

Final edit and texture in Topaz Studio.

I did not take out 135mm lens for a quite while. Too many fifties to try.

I like the world seen by 135. One could find details further away, come close, remove background. And it s forced to walk back to take that additional inch or two.

Used the 'remove background' option and concocted something I like better. Fun project for these Covid days.

I was finally able to figure out how to remove backgrounds from my pictures, using photoshop...I then merged two photos, one that I made all black....and this is what I came up with!

Removed background to give floating effect. Thurrock. Essex.

This close-up of Simba was a tiny bit underexposed to start with, as I wanted detail only in his eyes (and a little in his face). To keep some definition in his face, and remove background colour and detail, I converted to black and white. Next I saturated the coloured version on a different layer, and then created a layer mask to bring the saturated eyes into the black and white image.

Was working on a creative piece for this years La Crosse Area Camera Club. The angel statute was photographed by me at Our Lady of Hope Shrine near Green Bay. The creative license has been greatly expanded and I am pushing the limit here with removing background and inserting elements. Called Floral Garden Angel. Enjoy!

ProCamera photos & parts of drawings done in Procreate further processed using Pixelmator & iColorama on iPad Pro L using Apple Pencil.

The photo of the girl was a rather whimsical, lymp, free pose mixed with a secondary photo which beckoned my artistic instincts to turn it into a digital watercolor, my medium of expression outside of the digital world. I used Pixelmator to resize, remove background & change some color parts of photos & elements. Some photos used were turned into contour drawings in iColorama with most contour line drawn in Procreate while continuing to experiment in both apps for watercolor effects, color, composition & story. The butterflies were all drawn in Procreate as well as contour lines from an over enlarged flower as seen simply in the background. I wanted to do something unexpected so I veered off into a color palette with a feel of slight mornfulness & deceit, thus the name, 'Butterfly Lies'. I added a slightly agitated feel on the center area of the girl in iColorama & then repeated original pose twice in watercolor like, rather souless replicas of the main figure in the background. I love experimenting with the artistic possibilities of Apps & photos, changing reality into what initially it may not be.

This took me a good 6 hrs - settign up the pose in balck dragon, setting up the lighting, getting the angle for the shot...enhancing with ai-removing background, adding reflection adding water and ripples adding sky all in pshop then running it through lightroom. HOPE YOU LIKE THE RESULT.

Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year! I built this last year (wow, a whole day ago!) but did not get along to finishing the editing, so, alas, here it is now! My first build of the New Year! I recently got both an Xbox One and Wii U for Christmas (shared with my brother) and that has inspired me to build this. Battlefront is such a great game: the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is fun, and I really enjoy it! The quality of this picture is not all that good for some reason, but it's probably because I'm not the best at removing backgrounds. If anyone has techniques or would like to help me with that, I'd appreciate it!

15 x 7-min ISO 1600 and 15 x 4-min ISO 3200 exposures, taken over 2 sessions; astro-modified Canon 600D and Sky-Watcher ED 80mm f/6.25 telescope, piggybacked on a Celestron C8 telescope for autoguiding.

"White Egrets Greeting" by Patti Deters. These two white birds are Great Egrets (Ardea alba) and were flying around looking for a suitable nest location. They would "greet" each other as they passed, perhaps the one asking if the yellow flowers might make a good place for the nest. You can tell it is breeding season by the green coloring near their eyes and the beginning of long plumage tail feathers. The birds were photographed in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and a several heavy textures have been added to remove background distractions. If you like outdoor nature art, please enjoy more avian and other wildlife images at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/white-egrets-greeting-pa....

Don't think many of you know that besides photography, sports cars are definitely my other passion in life :D I have been inspired by automotive photography for a very long time and always admire what other professional photographers can achieve. However it wasn't until last weekend that I decided to give it a go at creating a moving automotive shot & really... what could be better than being able to shoot and create an action image of my very own car! Since this is my first attempt, please feel free to criticise :D I'm sure I will lots more to learn & I can't wait to create more !

For those who are keen to do a similar image like this, there are a few ways to achieve this. The cool way is of coz to shoot it with a specialised rig attached to the car or shoot it from the back of a ute. Unfortunately I do not have the privilege of these so you guess it... the only one for me is through photoshop :P (which many professional photographers did too!)

Had a run of a few hours last night in order to top up last years M31 taken by my 6 year old son.

I've taken it up to 7 hours in luminance, and combined it with just under 4 hours from the DSLR. With plenty of work going in to removing background colour blotching that you always seem to get with a DSLR (regardless of exposure time).

I was able to take astro images over 10 nights in September, which must be something of a record for me! I'm still working through the processing and posting.

This was 30 x 4-minute ISO 3200 autoguided exposures; with an astro-modified Canon 600D and Meade ED 127mm f/7.5 telescope.

Frames stacked in Deep Sky Stacker software. Result post-processed to increase contrast, reduce noise and remove background colour gradients caused by light pollution.

Note that the pale red disk around the bright star (Gamma Cass) is caused by reflection on the light pollution filter in the camera.

What? Did I mix up pescadology with botolony? Do you suppose that this could be a Klingon. I've only seen one of them before, see comments:

Originally it seemed that I shot everything but the flowers at Denver Botanic gardens. I decided to make a series of some of my showy botanic shots for a series. I followed some of the paths scattered about the Denver Botanic Gardens but I found this inside the pavilion where they have jungle (Jungle Jim just jumped me) plantings. I am now posting more of my botanical series after my extended series of garden environmental shot series. I still have lots of garden shots to edit. Some at a time.

This shows my series change. Well, at least this is some of the jumping color I snapped. Next?

This is yet another from an early summer eDDie trek to the Denver Botanic Gardens. I have passed it untold times but never invested my time or ponied up the entrance fee. This shouts that upkeep at the gardens is far from free, but eDDie bought a season pass so I did another round of sponge bobbing at the right price. Boy, this place is loaded with distractions that were made for me! ...and, did I ever get distracted.

Trekkers and lookie-loos packed and poked every path and display making clean shots more difficult. There were plants, displays and art in the park everywhere, keeping me abuzz and focusing in to removing background peeps. This shows that I actually got to botanic growies sooner or later. When will I change interests in another series like I usually do? As you can see from my steam, I make treks all over the place, gathering new captures as I can.

Since the Denver Botonic Gardens trek, I have made more treks with eDDie especially to the hills. At least I was able to snag a load of shots on that mellow day. I filled my film card for the first time ever. OK, I was tapped and all in by the time it was filled.

Tarantula Nebula is an impressive cosmic object, it lies in Great Magellanic Cloud, a nearby galaxy of our local group. This nebula is very rich in hydrogen, in this image we can see many complex clouds of ionized gas. NGC 2070 is a jewel for southern astrophotographers and I'm feeling so happy with this work. It's always a challenge to get this nebula because it is high on sky in rainy season here in Brazil.

It seems that I shot everything but the flowers at Denver Botanic gardens. There is still time to change course after looking at my load of sequestered unedited captures from my trek with eDDie. While following some of the paths scattered about the Denver Botanic Gardens, I found many spots outside the pavilion where they had flowers fringing paths. Here are some columbines alongside other ground plantings. Columbines are easily grown outside in this area. It looks like that I am getting closer to botanical series after my extended series of garden environment shots. Egad, I still have a real load of garden shots to edit. Some at a time; some at a time.

I supposed I ought to edit some of the flowers that cover Denver's gardens before too darn long. Well, this shows some as a change up. Well, at least this is some of the color I snapped away. Next?

Here is my completed image of the Eagle Nebula (M16) imaged with Sulphur, Hydrogen, and Oxygen narrowband filters. This false-color widefield image of the nebula represents the strong oxygen signal as cyan, hydrogen as yellow/orange, and the stronger sulphur signal as red. Naturally, this nebula is nearly all red in color, as hydrogen-alpha dominates the field. With selective filters and processing I have stretched the intensity of the Oiii and Sii to better represent where they lie in the nebula.

"Sandhill Romping in the Rocks" by Patti Deters. A Sandhill Crane (Antigone canadensis) with her wings outstretched appears to be romping and dancing on the sand among rocks and tall grasses, suggesting a wetland edge habitat. Notable details of this large, grey wading bird include long legs and neck, sharp beak, and the characteristic patch of red skin on its forehead. The crane's wings are partially raised, adding a sense of dynamism as if it's balancing, displaying, or preparing for flight, all rendered with soft brushstrokes against a clean white background. The bird is from my own photograph that I've cut out, then placed into this minimal coastal scene for artistic effect and to remove background distractions. Thank you for viewing this picture. Latest portrait of my Daughter Taylor, aged 13.

Colour original, converted to "orange filtered" B&W in Picasa.

Removed blemishes in Photoshop, also removed background with a black layer.

Improved contrast, dodged and burned.

Re-drew eye with added details to iris area, and new catchlights as original was taken with natural light from large double doors.

Added "warmth" in Picasa, then de-saturated (this brings in a brown/sepia tint to the image).

Resized and unsharpened for the final image.

Total time from capture to finish = 1 hour.

So proud that Taylor's image was chosen as the winner in the blogs.telegraph.co.uk/culture/kateday/100002267/photo-com..., thanks Kate Day.

Looks like these stamen are really horny and showing off their masculinity in this yellow columbine. These flowers are common around here. Often, people rip Columbine blue columbine off from the hugh country and plant them in their back yards. They turn yellow soon enough. Were they stressed at high altitude? Perhaps but I prefer them up at altitude.

It seeems that I shot everything but the flowers at Denver Botanic gardens. It seems that I shot plenty of growies and flowers at Denver Botanic gardens. Thus the edited captures and new series from my trek with eDDie. While following some of the paths scattered about the Denver Botanic Gardens, I found many spots outside the pavilion where they had flowers fringing paths. Here is a patch of Colorado columbines brought in from the hig country. Columbines are easily grown everywhere in this area but high country blue columbines fade to yellow on the flats. This one has already lost luster. I guess that is why they are so precious when found in the high country. Snap pictures and leave them alone at altitude. Transplants won't work anyway. My dad tried and tried. Egad, I still have a real load of garden shots to edit. Maybe a few more.

Well, this extends more of my new series. Well, at least this is some of the color I snapped. Next?

This is a little more interesting than M3 and M5 in some respects. Its obvious optical characteristic is a straight bar of bright stars running almost vertically along the core.

Its line of sight also puts it very close to the Rho Ophiuchus complex of stars and dust clouds - its not that far from the Antares nebulosity/dust cloud.

My orginal image (before PixInsight processing) had quite a background gradient of red/yellow to the left which was probably the edge of the dust cloud lit up by the red supergiant Antares.

Almost the first processing step in PixInsight is to remove background gradients! I considered saving the extracted gradient and blending it back in again but left it in the end.

My next GC will be NGC 6144, which lies right behind the Antares nebulosity/dust cloud.

19 x 6 min exposures, dithered and drizzled. Post-processed in PixInsight 1.8. Acquired remotely from iTelescope T3 in NM.

12 x 7-min ISO 1600 autoguided exposures (taken 24 Sep 2022) and 7 x 7-min ISO 1600 manually guided exposures (taken 20 Sept 2015); astro-modified Canon 600D and Sky-Watcher ED 80mm f/6.25 telescope, piggybacked on a Celestron C8 telescope for guiding.

Frames stacked in Deep Sky Stacker software. Result post-processed to increase contrast, reduce noise and remove background colour gradients caused by stray light.

Unfortunately the pale red circles around the bright stars are reflections caused by the clip-in light pollution filter that I always use. I should really remove it when such bright stars are in the frame!
