In the UK the Sinclair ZX80 home computer was launched in February 1980 at £79.95 in kit form and £99.95 ready-built. In November of the same year Science of Cambridge was renamed Sinclair Computers Ltd.

Their first Amstrad computer, the CPC 464 was launched in 1984.

How the world has changed in some ways and not at all in others.

One laptop, two skyscrapers, and the Empire State in between. New York reminds you how small you are and how much you can still do. Found this moment in Hudson Yards — quiet work in the middle of the vertical city.

Would you work here?

Some days at the cabin are filled with walks, fresh mountain air and new things to discover. Other days, the human insists on sitting in front of a computer.

So Laban has found another way to pass the time.

Curled up on the sofa at our cabin at Veslesetre, Turufjell, Laban rests his head on a dark pillow and lets the working day carry on around him. The soft daylight catches every little curl in his warm caramel-coloured coat, while the dark fabric beneath him creates a quiet contrast.

It is one of those wonderfully ordinary moments that probably would have passed unnoticed without a camera nearby. No majestic mountain landscape, no dramatic weather and no grand adventure. Just a little dog, a comfortable pillow and the slow rhythm of a day at the cabin.

And somewhere behind the camera, there is probably a human being reminded that work is clearly taking far too long.

Fun fact: A dog's sense of time is closely connected to routines and recurring events, which means familiar patterns such as walks, meals and a human finally closing the laptop can become important landmarks in the dog's day.

(Hotel) Room With A View (Atlantic Ocean At Fort Lauderdale Beach) - IMRAN™

(Full view, which one is better for such a situation, this or www.flickr.com/photos/imrananwar/50815769522/in/dateposte... ?)

I love to travel, and that includes traveling for work. If my team meetings happen to be at a resort hotel on the Atlantic Ocean beach in Florida, what is there to not like. If they also happen to be in the middle of winter, then what is there not to love! This is actually a panorama photo created from three separate iPhone 11 Pro Max photos taken in my room at the Sonesta in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida last winter.

The pandemic messed up all of that routine stuff in 2020. Thankfully, technology allows many of us to still continue to work from wherever we are.

Hopefully, with a return to normalcy in politics, business society, and business we can all travel again, and be in rooms with people we enjoy without a pandemic wreaking havoc on all that was normal.

Stone Age Management Thinking - IMRAN™

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt says most employees should return to the office, rather than work from home permanently. Wasn’t Eric head of Sun and Novell or something? How’re those companies doing with his management philosophy? … Oh, double snap.

Early May 2020: the authorities strongly suggested that those who could work from home, should do so.

My wife was an "early adopter" and was quick to establish a "home office."

Due to my line of work, I could unfortunately not "harvest the benefits" of that, but worked weird shifts and long hours in order to be able to be home too, to the extent possible.

Now, almost three years later, "hybrid working" is a well working concept at many workplaces so she's at the home office a couple of days a week.

For me, remote work is not possible, so I've figured out my own "hybrid" work model: as little as possible and strategically planning hard to get fired.

Unfortunately, my bosses are not exactly keen on the latter.

Remote work is a working style that allows professionals to work outside of a traditional office environment. It is based on the concept that work does not need to be done in a specific place to be executed successfully.

Adapting to a pandemic has ushered in a brave new world of being forcibly confined to our home offices

Remote work does save travel time and and a host of other debatable advantages.

For those of us who optimize our soft skills with in person meets with clients and work colleagues, studies indicate that the majority of workers look forward to shelving the predominance of I in remote and benefitting from the WE in team

Any of my Flickr friends wish to share their experiences ?

Day 12 of #inktober - prompt: Remote

Remote has become mainstream with remote working imposed by the pandemic, and it has remained in the working habits of many people. Certainly in the EU administration where I work. When this way of working exploded I used an illustration based on The Little Prince by Saint Exupéry to show and explain that remote work also means being alone on your planet with its volcanoes, its flowers and its rose. And that you have to be well aware of it to take care of your physical and especially mental health. For today’s prompt I copied my illustration by applying the method of the continuous line that I impose on myself for this edition of inktober. I hope you enjoy it.

For the first time in a long time I worked at a coffee shop. I experienced glare when I worked. I overheard conversations about religion, relationships and business. I "paid rent" and supported a local business. Felt really good.

Pentax 6x7, Ilford HP5 pushed one stop

For a few days, this was the office. A small table, an open laptop, warm wood around the window and Tenerife waiting outside. The mornings started with photographs and strong light. The afternoons ended with more photographs.

Not a bad place to work.

4/30

The fourth image in this EF135/2L series was a selfportrait captured this morning when I was working from home for my client, a danish energy company.

MS Teams seems to be the most important tool these days ...

This images is captured with the Canon EOS R5 on my tripod using the built-in timer. I tried the Eye-AF/Face-detect, but that didn't work, probably because of the timer-function. Next time I better use my trustworthy PocketWizard triggers to include Eye-AF ....

With this time I went for a black'n'white look in Capture One Pro using the Tri-X style kit from Mastin Labs.

Costa de Azahar: A Mediterranean Synthesis

This evocative collection captures the multifaceted essence of the Spanish eastern coast through a series of cinematic vignettes. Titled "Costa de Azahar," the set navigates between timeless traditions and modern lifestyles, blending the serenity of ancient hill towns and artisanal pottery with the dynamic energy of professional cycling and coastal driving.

The narrative moves from the iconic silhouette of Peñíscola’s fortress at dawn to the intimate warmth of a chef’s kitchen and the sun-drenched moments of family life on the shore. Each frame is characterized by a sophisticated play of light—ranging from the dusty sunbeams of a craftsman's workshop to the vibrant purples of a kitesurfer's sunset. This series explores the Mediterranean identity not just as a location, but as a balance between heritage, nature, and the pursuit of a refined, quiet life.

Yes, the Nazi-enabling fascism-loving rich-boy is another of the hypocrite self-appointed moral authorities these days. Elon Musk claims working from home is morally wrong. What dp you think of that?
