This is the best mosaic I could get from my footage. The combination of height, angle, and changing light conditions really plays havoc with my wonky system. Still... I'm surprised I get anything at all sometimes. This one clearly has some major stitch/seam patterns. Still, it could be used to get a good general feel of the space.
The leaf area index can be used as a proxy for vegetation stress during certain stages in the crop cycle (focusing on grains & oilseeds), and reanalysis supports this measure as a reliable indicator for identifying yield limitations. The map below derived from NASA's MERRA archives.
On March 15, 2021, Japan's Himawari 8 satellite captured this view of a massive dust storm blanketing an area of northern China about twice the size of Texas. The dust storm — the worst in the region in a decade — triggered an air quality in Beijing, where it turned the skies a ghastly shade of orange.
