4 motors? Wha? Tactically genious? No. Cool....maybe. This non-RC Beetle is the third of the 3 racing 'bugs' I plan to enter in the next Birch Bug Racing League. The what? You know those foam squeeze logo'd toys companies give out? Some of us at my company organize motorized foam toy races. This is one of my March '08 entries. You can see our rules (as well as pix/video from previous events here: www.4xkn.com/birch_bugs/index.html

3/25/08 – My review of yet another “Jericho” series finale:
Meh
Hank obviously concurs.
I swear if Hawkins said “we’re making history” one more time, I would’ve pulled the trigger.
It occurred to me while watching this episode, “Jericho” has a lot of similarities to “Star Trek”. For every 6 – 7 mediocre episodes, you get one that’s really amazing. Tonight’s series finale contained similar story elements too. All the characters made the right decisions, and everything worked itself out for the best by the end. Not to mention, the intro of a new character who…you guessed it…gets killed.
One good thing about the episode was the exploding fighter jets. Not that the explosions were super spectacular (especially when compared to summer blockbuster movies), but not too common on TV. Also, a lot of the episode seemed more focused on setting up for a future season (off network obviously), & not the expected grand finale of the storylines they’ve been building all season.

Yesterday, I plunked down $50 for a Tamron SP CF 35-80/2.8, and here's the kind of close focusing it does. Handheld with flash. Note shadow cast by lens. :-)
I also spent a bunch of time making macro shots of coinage, but those pictures are even more boring that this one. But the point is that you can put a 2x teleconverter on this lens, and end up with a 1:1.5 close-up ratio at an effective f/5.6, focusing to just less than a foot. And that's in 35mm format terms.

Opportunities to get out and make new pictures are, of necessity, limited during the COVID-19 outbreak so, from 1st April 2020, I've been hunting through my archives to find images taken on the same date in previous years. I've tried to choose eight each day. They've mostly not been published here before and potentially cover the period 1980-2020. I hope you enjoy them.
Wish I knew what the "F" stood for. I bet it makes the television do something really cool... involving fireworks, or rabbits, or something equally impressive.
