I'm currently packing for shore week! The family tradition continues, and I can not wait to get there.

Since I have dinner plans tomorrow night and am leaving Friday night, I had to pack today. The best way to remember to pack the hat, I thought, was to put it on once I thought of it.

Closer shot of the remote control from my Phillips OnDigital set top box.

The box is currently sat beneath my computer desk, with a cable attaching it to the PC! Rarely gets used though. Note the dust...

Anyway, I wanted to use this on a website to illustrate an article, and because it's creative commons licensed, so may other people ;)

Photographing these in motion is just like trying to photograph flying dragonflies, almost impossible with their erratic and sudden change in direction.

I was down in the church basement racing remote control cars today. A dusty, dark, basement with a homemade race car track is definitely a great place to be from a kid's perspective. And even from the perspective of a kid at heart.

Though with the drizzle, the wind and the clouds I lost sight of it (I need windscreen wipers!) and it landed nose down in the heather... but unharmed!

Tania and Loc are currently subletting around Brooklyn while the construction on their apartment is underway, and the place they're in now doesn't have a kitchen. So she brought over all their CSA bounty and we cooked up a delicious meal. We made use of the onions, swiss chard, tomatoes, zucchini, eggs, beets, fennel fronds, and kale, all in one meal! I contributed gruyere, heavy cream, pie crust, lemon juice . . . and wine.

Oh, and because I will be annoyed at myself for not taking any notes on the quiches: We totally winged it. For the two, we used all 12 eggs. Probably a little more than a cup of heavy cream. Lots of salt and pepper. And maybe 1 cup of grated gruyere (a combo of Prima Donna and a generic cave-aged gruyere) across both? Tania, you added the cheese--would you say it was 1 cup? We blind-baked the crusts, just some Pillsbury refrigerated dough (I didn't have time to make it myself), for about 15 minutes. Scattered the veggies (onions, chard, and zucchini sauteed in butter and olive oil; tomatoes peeled and seeded; bacon diced and sauteed) in the crust then ladled the egg mixture over. baked them for about 40 minutes? We were not paying close attention; we took them out when they were done.

This was a bit tricky to capture. I had to shoot through the steering wheel, but I was unable to get into the car with my camera because of the closeness of the wheel. To get around this, I set the camera on timer, mounted it on my tripod, placed the tripod and camera on the seat, and used my remote control to trigger the shutter. I had to take number of shots to get the angle just right. A portion of the steering wheel cuts across just below the odometer. It was an interesting experiment.

I was trying to decide on today's purple photo when I noticed today's colour in the Radio Times. If you're not in the UK, you may not know that this is a magazine which is published weekly & includes daily tv & radio listings. The pages for each day have their own coloured border - & Friday's colour is purple. Also for TMSH "Friday".

It can't be said that the photo sessions I had to try and get this weeks shot were successful - I am just fortunate to have a dog that will retrieve until the cows come home, lol. One hundred plus photos and I ended up using one from the first session in the garden. My garden is horrible for photos, all brown fencing or a garage wall - I've added some foliage in this one to hide the fence. After the garden session I walked round to the park to try some with a better background.........and forgot the remote control. Tried a few without which were disastrous so walked home for the remote and back to the park again. Failure after failure, even Ashley was getting tired! I got her nose, her legs, in fact all parts of her but not the pose I wanted.

This was my other contender - I love her pose - especially her paws - but as she seems to have spat all over the lens (lol) I didn't think it worth the effort of disguising the fence.

I have a selfie stick and with it came a remote control which I could use to take photos with the iPhone - sadly I lost it … but it has just turned up :)
