Remnants to what used to be a blacksmith shop.

A necessity for the mill and logging operations was the blacksmith’s shop. Every lumber company required a blacksmith shop for small repairs to the equipment used for logging and drawing logs. Major repairs were done at the mill blacksmith shop. The Jacobi Lumber Company had one at their lumberworks site. And inside the blacksmith shop would have been a metalworker who created objects out of iron using tools like hammers, chisels, and anvils. The blacksmith would have been in charge of the production and repair of all metal objects, not just for the company, but for the community as well.

the gophers got one plant; leon's building me a new raised bed, wired underneath.

these are what were left. dried and dead and still interesting.

pardon the insipid smile. and I don't know exactly why I look a little wonky.

We are at one of those odd in-between times when the remnants of previous exist at the same time as the buds and shoots of new ones.

There was a huge stationary orographic formation directly overhead for most of the day. Just before sunset it began to rapidly dissipate, and this was the remnant that burst into color at sunset.

Chaotic woods photography... Withlacoochee State Forest, Citrus County, Fl

The tooth of an excavator reaches out from its burial ground, where the remnants of an old iron ore mine were buldozed over.

I did manage to get on the water this morning and although I was a bit late for the spectacular colors there were still some pleasing tones remaining in the clouds that dissipated as the sun rose over Armand Bayou! Hope everyone had a great week and that your weekend goes slowly and beautifully!

Thanks everyone for your support, you are all awesome 💓

In a motionless parade, past glory years are well represented as an old, unused barn, silo, windmill, hand pump and a Farmall echo days of vitality that now only adorn the walls of memories. There comes a time in many older people when warm memories of the past are more comforting than the sometimes bewildering changes of the present, both in technology and in attitudes.

This weakening thunderstorm cell was beginning its recycle to form an active line of thunderstorms just 30 minutes later. At the time of this image (8:08PM), the closest lightning was 10 miles away. However, a half hour later, the closest strike was just 4.5 miles. Soon after this, the storm system moved to my northeast as lightning activity increased significantly. I only received a trace of rain.

This former salt pond was once owned by Cargill. It's now a closely managed bird sanctuary. It has a long line of rotted pilings and other remnants of the old salt works.
