6 years ago today I woke up as the mummy to twin boys, by the time the sun had set I had held Thomas in my arms for the first and last time and said goodbye, time seems to have flown since that day but my memory of it remains crystal clear,

always loved, never forgotten.
He's working for some realtors now here in Rochester, but when I knew him before, he was doing his greetings from the Interstate. Maybe you remember him - eastbound I-90, mile marker 21 in Wisconsin, between Bangor and Sparta, off on the right hand side standing in a field. We waved to him many many times on our drives to Chicago, me and Vic and the kids. He never failed to wave back, but then he's a pro. Anyway, I hadn't seen him in years when he popped up just blocks from where I live, out on S. Broadway in Rochester. He didn't seem to mind me shooting him while he was working. He waved again as I was leaving.
This image is a shot i recently took at the world trade center site. Ground zero. As you can see, there are multiple cranes and much construction. I just can't go through this day without thinking about this place. The lives lost. The agony that continues to this day.
Especially in the forefront of my thoughts are the medics, firefighters and officers lost. I work closely with people in all three of these professions, i know their hearts. The 343 + 37 + 23 lost that day weren't running away. They were going in.

A day when you were young.

Today is a day of rememberance in our household.
April 25th is a National holiday to remember the deeds of Australian & New Zealand soldiers of WW1.
It is also the anniversary of the day my great great grandparents arrived in Australia in 1855.
We remember and are greatful for the wars, fires, floods, droughts & famine they fought so that we could enjoy the life we do today.
The recent tragic Typhoon to hit the Philippines has reminded me of that beautiful country and its warm people. I decided it was time to sort out some of the photos I took there.

Since we still haven't seen any real snow this year, I went into my archive and found some snow I took a picture of last year that I haven't posted yet.

Captured before a 95-run victory over Mirfield-based Huddersfield League Premiership rivals Moorlands.
Garnering the maximum six points, Golcar leapfrogged Moorlands into third place and now trail leaders Thongsbridge by six.
James Howson (58) and Steve Whitwam (33) put on almost a hundred for the first wicket after Golcar elected to bat. After they'd departed, the run rate slowed and wickets began to tumble regularly. 128-5 at halfway. Dan Woodhead (35) and Craig Ruscoe (23) helped the hosts to 215. Nadim Hussain took 4-25, James Stansfield 3-45.
The Moorlands reply never got going. It could've been worse. Golcar (fingers doubtless numb on a chilly, breezy South Pennine afternoon) dropped three catches with the opposition flailing at 62-7. The eighth-wicket pair, captain Eddie Walmsley (27) and Arslaan Razzaq (23), ensured Moorlands avoided humiliation. Whitwam (3-36) and Will Hinchliffe (3-37) shared the bulk of the wickets.

Five years ago today my wonderful grandmother died, four days before she would have turned 101 years old. The bravest and strongest and coolest woman I have ever known. Having endured a poor childhood, a crazy husband, a war, a divorce, and raising three children on her own, she never lost her positive outlook on life. And she never stopped singing.
in this picture I'm sulking on her lap by 'our' river Sioule in France, probably because I could not play on my brother's dam :-) And she is probably singing a song to comfort me.
