A couple hundred makers and teachers gathered at the ReMake Education Summit, held August 3 - 5, 2016, at Studio 180 in Santa Rosa, CA. I went there with my associate Sarah Brewer, who is helping me teach our maker art classes this fall. It was a great way to connect with other educators and learn from each other.

The conference started with a few short speeches by co-host Dan Blake, Doug Dougherty and others. We then made simple objects together, such as a ReMake T-shirt made with vinyl-printed designs heat-pressed onto the cloth.

The morning keynotes were inspiring, as presenters shared their experiences as maker educators. They taught at different levels, from pre-K to higher ed, yet they all observed that activities that are hands-on, project-based, student-driven and collaborative can help students find a sense of purpose -- and give them the confidence that they can change the world.

We spent the rest of the day joining a variety of breakout sessions ranging from crowdsourcing your makerspace, to learning how to program a Raspberry Pi, control animated robots or how to assess the impact of maker education on young learners.

I gave a talk about our Maker Art classes, which combine art, tech and storytelling for young learners. I showed videos and photos of our recent Wonderbox and City of the Future courses, and how they help students develop their creative, technical and social skills in a playful way.

Many thanks to the team at ReMake and 180 Studios for organizing this fine gathering. They did a great job connecting teachers and resources. It was great way to share best practices, brainstorm new ideas, and start new collaborations. Well worth the trip!

Remake Serie V

Remake V Series

Weekend was grounded, so my entertainment consisted from things coming out of a screen or book.

Some time ago, I heard that a remake was being made of one of my favorite childhood TV series.

The V series

Oh, so great memories of childhood like the aliens becoming reptiles, how they ate the mice, or the hybrid baby being borne and bathed in oil, or the beautiful Diana leader of he aliens.

A few days ago I finally managed to get the new V series, season 1 to see it. It turned to be half-interesting.

Visitors in this new series seem more technologically advanced, and more used to use deception and conspiracy. But on the other side for the full season we never got to see how the aliens look like in reptile form. The most we get is the eyes, and a few glimpses of reptile skin when their human skin got cut.

The resistance-rebellion at the first chapters was really interesting, to see how they meet each other, how they go in their minds changing to deal with their own personal conflicts on why to be part of the rebellious group. But since till the end of the series the Aliens, have not invaded Earth, their resistance efforts seem kind of silly, except for the two ones that happen on board the visitor’s spaceships.

Now to wait and hope that there is a second season, since apparently from the hint of final season chapter, the invasion is about to begin.

Kisses

Jessica

Summon the Swarm

"Summon the Swarm and prepare to move to Korhal" The Queen of Blades ordered.

"The Swarm is in disarray and will not answer your call." Izsha replied.

This is a personal remake of the scene in StarCraft 2 when Sarah Kerrigan comes back to the Leviathan to claim her ownership of the Swarm and speaks with Izsha, the Zerg who were made to store all ideas and memories of the Queen.

I remade my stuffed bunny into "The Girl with the Pearl Earring", but the lighting in the photo I took was very dark and I couldn't find a photo with the head of the in the right place. The face looks a little, but I had traced the features from the photo. I also didn't know where to put the pearl earring, so I just placed it on the headpiece.

I had last night a fun shoot with a friend trying to do a remake of Vincent Fantauzzo's piece for heath ledger :D .

Paintback. I did this rooftop and was really happy about it. But it was buffed in the morning after..and I came too late (dumbass) to make a picture. It had the power and quality like a blockbuster Zedz' piece'. It looked so damn fresh I recall, when I looked at it across the street at night for a while. It was just perfect. Because I knew doing it again would get the same shitty cleaning' as result I made a piece in the same way/colours (in a hof lol) and made a picture of the buffed spot (pasted it on the picture). Which is this image/remake here above. I still regret this lost as one of my biggest failures in graffiti cause it was one of the better pieces I did.

Xmas with the Mortseas 2017.
