After morning chores (mainly tidying up), day 2 of our hut to hut took us over and along ridges and across lakes from the River Iikoski wilderness cabins to the Lake Iso-Valkeinen wilderness cabins, Peurapirtti and Hirvastupa.
We had a bit of sunshine and some fresh snow flurries, and our second sausage BBQ lunch was at a simpler open air set up; coffee was brewed over the fire.
Lake Iso-Valkeinen wilderness cabins were identical with an en suite sauna each. However they were also smaller than Huosiusjärvi yesterday, which made it trickier to operate Wilderness Restaurant No. 2. We managed, and even prepared an amuse-bouche. Just the one. After dinner we polished off the whisky and sampled Austrian Allotment Pear and Hazelnut Brandies.
For today’s chores, I’d tried my hand at wood chopping. Mad axe-wielding Mary was a sight to behold.

This stinkbug was hanging out in the inside of the door leading out to my garage. I took some shots in place but when I turned I saw how beautiful it was outside so I scooped him up and relocated it to the corner of my deck railing out back next to the bird feeder. My presence scared the birds off long enough for me to get some shots and possibly from the stinkbug to make good his escape. It's a whole lot more fair to it then a 'burial at sea'
