This really bears no relationship to the week, except that the kids and I had the sequins out today doing postcards for the teachres. The background is a paper napkin from a pack I bought in Sainsbury's (but they are much too nice to be used as napkins), I then quilted it a bit, added a few feathers, and a load of sequins. Most dog's love to chase cats but Salati the leopard turns a common sight on its head in comical fashion - by running after loveable pooch Tommy the Golden Retriever. In a bizarre animal-kingdom relationship the pair are actually best friends. And as these adorable pictures show the odd duo love snuggling up together after they've been for walkies. They were hand-reared together at Glen Afric Country Lodge near Pretoria, South Africa. Animal wrangler Richard Brooker, 23, raised 10-month-old Salati and gives her and family dog Tommy their daily exercise together. He takes them out into his family's 750 hectare estate and lets them run amok. He said: "Wherever you see one the other is right behind." Rescued as an orphaned cub Salati was donated by a local vet to the family-run country retreat, which helps to rehabilitate injured and needy animals. The Brooker's hard work and breeding programmes with elephants, lions, and giraffes has helped boost wildlife numbers in the area.
