Lineup: Edward "Kidd" Jordan (tenor sax), Darrell Lavigne (p), Reggie Workman (b), Andrew Cyrille (d).

 

Kidd Jordan (whose 82nd birthdaywas the dayafter this concert was born in Crowley, LA and moved to New Orleans in 1955. He has been the most influential Free Jazz players in the city. He is the Artistic Director of the Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp, and father of four musicians (Rachel, Stephanie, Marlon and Kent) and brother-in-law of another (the late Alvin Batiste). At this gig he was joined by local pianist Darrell Lavigne and two stalwarts of the New York scene (once of the bands of John Contrane and Cecil Taylor);
