The weather was dire so there wasn't a lot of street portrait action going on in London that day but I spotted Enol who works in one of the shops in Sloane Square. He was enjoying a fag break and was happy to pose. Peter did his work on the reflector and we came away with this.
Enol is from Spain but now living and working in London. Thanks for the pic!

This is a simple Do-It-Yourself reflector that I made from chipboard (E.g. A cereal box) and aluminum foil. The reflector is attached to the chin of the pop-up flash on my Canon T3i DSLR using an elastic hair band (or rubber band). I suspect this technique will work on most DSLR's with a popup flash.
I found a box that was white on the inside instead of the normaI gray to make it look a little nicer and I attached aluminum foil to the side with printing using spray adhesive. I then cut out the shape with scissors. The reflector is approximately 4.5 inches square (11.4 cm).
This reflector works well for close-ups and portraits and but can only be used indoors with a ceiling so the light can be reflected. It also cuts the effective range of the flash considerably since it needs much more power to light the subject with reflected light. Most shots more than a few feet away will need the ISO increased a little in order to have enough power. In most cases, with my camera in TTL metering mode, it will get the exposure right with no adjustment. Some times, I will manually increase the flash output by 2/3 or so EV.
I included a couple sample shots in my photostream.

Give good old spring clamps another chance to help you :)
Take two simple and cheap spring clamps, attach one to another as desribed. You can now use pointed down one for holding any reflector.
This reflector was built in 1967 by a small group of students at the 'Ecole Centrale de Paris'. Its 8-inch mirror was polished at hand. The telescope was designed for visual observing and has been especially utilized for making dozens of thousands of visual estimates of variable stars in the 70's and 80's. Quite easy to carry in a car, and very quick to set into operation, this telescope has travelled a lot.
Using a 45˚ angle for our strobe at a higher height than the previous, we can see how a silver reflector can fill in the shadows on the side away from the flash.

Iluminación de retratos en exterior - Guía 6
Reflector dorado da un resultado cálido y una buena iluminación acentuando de manera muy eficiente.
First page of my recent article in the December, 2020 issue of the Astronomical League's magazine REFLECTOR. I don't normally share these "beat my own drum" tidbits, but after a year last 2020, I think I'll go out on a good note!
I discovered today that hands can be quite handy (if you'll pardon the pun) as reflectors.
I've got so much more confident in Photoshop this year, what with my course and all that, and it's so rewarding to be able to create something like this :)

Nikon Super Coolscan 5000. Wow things have moved on!!
Not the prettiest of shots, but the outcome of a fairly successful test.
This is an 'extreme' macro shot of a standard silver reflector showing the fabric fibres. It was shot using two standard lenses & a coupler ring (pic here if you're interested: humphreyhippo.tumblr.com/post/16014619351/macro-coupler-r...).
Edited in Silver Efex Pro 2.
This is Michael from some months back in the clinic waiting room at the base. I'd met them there when Monica was taking him in for an appointment. As we were in "exercise condition" I had to wear a reflector belt with my uniform (don't ask--I really can't explain the inanity of that one). Of course Michael wanted it, by which we learned his waist is roughly half the circumference of mine.
With his camo pajama bottoms, I thought he fit in really well. Cute, huh.
finished it off not real sure on it. it is the first piece i have done since my son was born so just happy to get out and paint
Home make reflector stand/holder. Salvage few metal stock and bolt together with self locking nuts and bolts. the stand could be raise/lower or tilted back to reflect upward. The foarcore is sandwiched between 2 piece plastic and bolted to the stand arm.
