an excellent afternoon spent out on the house reef, the waters were calm the tide a little low but a superb experience swimming with turtles and the dolphins came to greet us upon arrival!

Western Reef Heron, Egretta gularis, Drier-Offerman Park aka Calvert Vaux Park, Brooklyn! This bird belongs in west Africa and the Persian Gulf, so it is quite the event when it shows up in NYC. Note the gorgeous golden slippers, just like her cousin, the Snowy Eqgret (who is cavorting to the right, out of photo).
