The object of our project is to reduce the number of deaths in Orange County caused by an overdose of opioids. We will be providing overdose prevention training and response education to drug users, their families, and those who work with them. Specifically, these individuals will be trained and equipped with the opioid antagonist drug Naloxone, which is used to counter the effects of an opioid overdose. Dr. D Deyhimy will be assuming prescribing authority and clinical oversight of the Naloxone Distribution Program, and is covered under the provisions of AB 635, The Overdose Treatment Act. This will be the first Naloxone Distribution Program in Orange County, California.
