In Carmel by the Sea, California, there are no street addresses. All mail (and local gossip) goes through the (almost 100 years old) post office.
The locks are very interesting. Each round thing has a letter and a 3 or 4 lines after it. You get your combination as A then a line for the first one then B and a line for the second. I appreciate the glass so you can see if you have mail although truthfully, mine is at the very top and I'm just a little too short to see. I have to stick my hand way in and mess about. Very sad if there's nothing to pull out.
