Red Kites again this afternoon and for a change the sun obliged for a short timer when two birds came low with dark clouds behind :-)
I finally got a presentable photo of one of the Red-vented Bulbuls that lives in the Heights earlier this week. I know they are introduced and have been told that they are an invasive species but it was still neat to see this bird. It would be neat to go to India to see one in its native habitat but Houston will have to do for now.

Red-cockaded Woodpecker ~ (Leuconotopicus borealis)
The endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker in Central Florida is in peril because of habitat loss. They live in mature pine forests and excavate their own nesting cavities exclusively from living pine trees.
Thanks for visiting!

Fast shutter speed to combat the very windy morning.
Red is my favourite colour. It always grabs my attention. If there is a complementary or contrasting background, so much the better. Stuff like this is so simple, but it makes me so happy to see it.
Amaryllis Belladonna, at least that's what I've been told. lol, I'm the worst with plant and flower names.
Home for a couple of days, but within the first 15 minutes, my mom asked me to take a picture of her new flowers. So, of course I did! I'm a good son.
True to it’s name, the rocks in this canyon really are this red. This is a short hike we took in a national park in Canada nestled in the Crown of the Continent. There are many jewels to be found in the Rockies. I was challenged by how to best capture the character of this place. I took a wide landscape image but that included people. This is a popular spot with tourists. I do like that wide shot and I will post it later. But I loved coming in closer to the shapes, layers and colors of the rock framing the glacial waters running through the canyon. Even the pebbles in the water were vibrant. It was a slightly rainy day which made the colors pop even more!
