This is from a garden next to one of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C.

London recently moved in with Catcara and her horde of lovely Sooms, but before he packed his bags I managed to snap a few last shots of him :)

He's always been of my fave faceups. I had a lot of fun painting him & putting his look together. I'm so happy she wanted to keep him in all of his crimson glory.

My Red Lantern "Alien Rage Priest" costume. This is my original design based on the "Green Lantern" comics. If anyone can think of a name for this character, please leave me a comment.

Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours. The capitulum, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. The morphology of the flowers varies depending on their position in the capitulum. The flower heads can be as small as 7 cm (Gerbera mini 'Harley') in diameter or up to 12 cm (Gerbera ‘Golden Serena’).

Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers. The domesticated cultivars are mostly a result of a cross between Gerbera jamesonii and another South African species Gerbera viridifolia.[5] The cross is known as Gerbera hybrida. Thousands of cultivars exist. They vary greatly in shape and size. Colours include white, yellow, orange, red, and pink. The centre of the flower is sometimes black. Often the same flower can have petals of several different colours.

Gerbera is also important commercially. It is the fifth most used cut flower in the world (after rose, carnation, chrysanthemum, and tulip). It is also used as a model organism in studying flower formation.

Gerbera contains naturally occurring coumarin derivatives. Gerbera is a tender perennial plant. It is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds, but resistant to deer.[6] Their soil should be kept moist but not soaked.

Close up of one of the Geranium Plants , we've got in the garden this year. Tried to do something different by producing an HDR image, of the flower.

Was impressed with the results. Hope you like it as much as me.

My poppies are doing so well this year! Red is such a hard colour to capture, I tried loads of different settings until I was happy with it.

Well I was so happy this morning, I got to see the 2 red pandas which have only been at Peak Wildlife Park for a week. I visited last week when there was just 1 but it was hiding away in the treetops. This morning they both came out for a wander.

An appropriate title for the romantics among us for this image might be "The Kiss."

Although the lighting is harsh and the capture not as crisp as I would like, I think it's a great moment of interaction between the foxes.

I was looking at some Black Ducks in an inlet when all of a sudden on the opposite shore I saw a fox come out of a brushy area. I thought it would be interested in the ducks, but even though they were close to shore they seemed unconcerned by the fox's presence. Then a second fox that was roughly the same size appeared on the rock in the photo. The two got together with one being submissive. That one was on its back while the other chewed or licked its throat and then touched muzzles as shown here. The approach of a truck caused them to leave. It was the first time I've seen this sort of behavior.
