Taken at castlehaven on the isle of wight. First MW shot for quite some time. Had a right palava getting to this shot as I accidently formatted the wrong card and deleted my nights worth of pics!!. Thankfully a nice bit of software (Recuva) enabled me to salvage my evening work :-).
A momentary lapse earlier this week, and I accidentally deleted all my files from Monday/Tuesday. Thankfully I was able to recover the JPEG files and thus continue forth with my never ending 365 project!
opened up CS6 for the first time in I don't know when and found this image in there..........NEF recovered, so it's obviously been deleted by mistake and then recovered using Recuva software. Hence re-found, I suspect I had originally opened it in Lightroom and then exported it for further editing in CS6 as it had a Lightroom 6 tag embedded.
Recuva is geweldig!
So I took about 40 pictures tonight, memory card failed, and corrupted all but six into an unrecognizable computer format. I tried to recover them, but the program (Recuva) didn't work... I'll retry this idea sometime in the future

Upon first viewing the RAW file for this image, I immediately deleted it.
However, after running Google's "Recuva" software to retrieve another shot I had inadvertently disposed of, I was met with this image once more.
This time, I decided to keep it and I'm ultimately pretty satisfied with the result. It isn't perfect, but the pose is nice and the sun feels warm, so what the heck, right?
#3948 - 2018 Day 295: Strange goings on in a mirror. More importantly, this nearly didn't make it, as the SD card got corrupted and was unreadable in Windows, despite the camera showing the images clearly. That might have meant a placeholder for today's image - how bad would that be. Thanks to Recuva software! Have something on hand folks, just in case.

Dancing as Anna Wolf sang. She's really unusual, great voice, quirky, staccato style, just two tracks on Spotify. We all liked her. I took some video clips I think were good, but my Sony HX60 stupidly hides them way away from the DCIM folder, in PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM (!!!) so it's all too easy to forget them before you next format the card. Even Recuva couldn't find anything. Call in the spooks? Anyway, it's all part of a London youngster's education, dancing in a fog of CO2.
I had five minutes to spare on my way to Marazion for my sunset picture, giving me chance to stop off at Long Rock for a couple of pictures of the kitesurfers enjoying the end of the day in Mount's Bay.
Special thanks to a free computer program called Recuva for rescuing this picture off my SD card after I deleted it ...

Another from the Derwent Edge walk with Dave Ascough
I deleted this straight after taking it as it didn't look great on the screen, but then the 5D screen isn't great in certain conditions. When another that I wasn't sure about looked ok on my monitor I decided to use Recuva, a program that I'd seen John Houghton recommend in the past, to retrieve the deleted file :)
After a a career of several years as a researcher it is nice to do some absolutely unscientific pseudo work at home. At our local grocery they sold tomatos like Easter eggs. It happened to be a quite bright day and I decided to compare some cameras at kitchen table close to the window. This time I used a tripod.
This photo was shot with an old second hand Canon Ixus 80 IIS with all automatic settings.
I made some exess comparision work in this photo project, For a reason or two (or none?) I succeeded to lose the whole series of photos taken with this camera during the transfer from SD card to the computer. So I had to seek a recovery program. Early morning googling gave a nice source of wisdom: lifehacker.com/5237503/five-best-free-data-recovery-tools. After downloading some of them I made some comparisions in installation and using. At first my blood pressure rose to Heavens. Then I tried www.piriform.com/recuva and in a few seconds all was rescued - and without a single ad & stupid popup. I strongly recommend Recuva!
Proof that we did take Inspire your heart with art 120 shot on Jan 31st .
But due to Dennis not knowing that my camera has a different folder for each month, and kindly clearing down after downloading the photos were gone.
We have tried recover utility Recuva on a deep scan and it came up with loads of recovered files - just not the ones we needed.
Luckily the 120 group allows shots to be taken +/- 3 days of specific dates.
There were a few files that weren't dated (well over 100) and I went through one by one, and this is 35% of the shot similar to the one I hoped to post.
Moral of the story - don't clear down the camera until you have double checked.

I am so clumsy I spilled a glass of tea on my laptop.
It is toast, including the hard drive.
So, I am trying to recover some important programs that are no longer around.
Anyway , I started going through the pile of old hard drives and found one from 6 years ago that had some cool stuff from when I lived in New Mexico. This is a painstaking and somewhat risky process. Get the data when you can since sometimes this is the last time that hard drive may function. I use Recuva to do this and you kind of have to know what you are doing. It only looks for specific types of files unless you tell it otherwise and scanning may take all night.
I am always surprised by what I find.
Data never completely goes away.
When your computer deletes a file it just changes the name using a weird symbol for the first letter.
To recover the file Recuva replaces it with the original letter. This works as long as the file has not been overwritten by other data.
Even then it may be recoverable enough to recognize. This is after doing a reformat of the hard drive and sometimes file scrubbing efforts.
Just FYI. If you want it to go away you have to destroy the drive physically.
I got some good shots of this match but my camera card was seen as corrupt and I thought I'd lost them all. But the wonderful free Recuva program beavered away and salvaged them all. Here Brentford are attacking down the left in strength.
So this series was created in a very peculiar and unintentional means. I recently upgraded my phone to a samsung galaxy s3. Naturally, one backs up there photos, notes and even music before resetting their phone back to factory settings. I however, thought that all my photos got saved to my memory card regardless and thought they were safe. Wrong. A program called Recuva rescued me from my peril and indeed it was peril as there were images on there (despite their lossy jpeg format nature ) that still meant a great deal to me. Don't even get me started on those hundreds of Retro-camera (an instagram equivalent) snapshots, as I loved that Polaroid filter, as you can probably tell. Anyways, how did I end up with these? The answer is I don't know. I'm assuming it all boils down to the coding used in the recovery process that the Recuva software uses.
Yeah, yeah alright this could have been fabricated in Photoshop in a matter of seconds, but it's the randomness that is fascinating in my opinion. These where the only five images that got created in this fashion. I want to label this a "happy mistake" however find it fitting to use the term "technological error" more appropriate.
I've kept the original names that Recuva titled these images as.

Brand Match voucher vs. (The ever popular) UK Garage duo Shanks and Bigfoot's debut album - Swings and Roundabouts. Why was I taking pictures of these items you ask? Firstly, I'm strange. Secondly, the brand match voucher displayed an impressive saving. Whilst the CD was snapped due to the unprecedented excitement of owning a piece of UK garage history in 2012. FACT - the compact disc is a dying format.
I was not aware of this species until this spring, probabably because it is an early bloomer, even at elevation. The red twigs are very visible and the blossoms appear on naked young stems.
I found numbers of these shrubs south of Grandfather Mountain approaching Linville Falls.
We had a disaster today. My camera decided to go bonkers and corrupt photos on my SD card. The PC couldn't even see the card properly, let alone the photos, so I used some recovery software to try and rescue them. Recuva managed to find one photo on my 32GB card, but ZAR secured 670 of the 704 it could see. The best bit was getting a reminder of the photo shoot we did in Dockey Wood back in spring!
Even kijken of Recuva werkt..
