These women are signifying their sorority with their shirts on Welcome Day of Recruitment. This is a day when ladies go to each house and meet with the members of each chapter. These ladies are looking to find a sorority which is most like them. They do this by recognizing the social ties between each sorority. Girls base their decision mainly on which sorority they think has the closest social tie to each other. Social ties in sororities are extremely important and for new members coming in, the strength of those social ties determines their decision.
