Greater Manchester Police saw 33 Police Now recruits arrive in force on Monday 9 September 2019.
The new officers assembled at the force’s Sedgley Park Center where they were welcomed by Deputy Chief Constable Ian Pilling.
Police Now’s mission is to transform communities by recruiting, developing, and inspiring leaders in policing by recruiting and developing a diverse group of individuals to be leaders in society and on the policing frontline.
The two-year national programmes train outstanding graduates to become police officers and detectives working in partnership to transform communities. Not just for people today but for generations to come.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) graduated 54 recruits from its training academy on Friday, November 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Valley Recruit Training Academy 81, 14355 Arminta St., Panorama City, 91402. The recruits completed a rigorous 20-week training curriculum preparing them for a successful career with the LAFD. There are 52 men and two women of class 2021-1.The LAFD is proud to announce that the top recruit is female Carly Wopat. She finished with an overall score of 94.7%. She was number one for academics and basics, and was third in her class for hose lays. Soon-to-be Probationary Firefighter Wopat has two other family members in the Fire Service in Southern California. And for the first time, the son of a female LAFD member will be graduating from the Recruit Training Academy. Soon-to-be Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic Alexander Greer is the son of active duty Firefighter/Paramedic Christi Greer, a 32-year member of the LAFD, who currently works at Fire Station 97 on Mulholland in Studio City.
Alexander is extremely proud to follow in the footsteps of his mother, Christi Greer. Cristi Greer is a 32-year veteran of the LAFD and is currently assigned to Fire Station 97, on the B Platoon. Christi joined the ranks of the LAFD in 1989 as a paramedic and later participated in the firefighter training program. One of the first LAFD members that Alexander was introduced to, shortly after his birth, was then Captain Ralph Terrazas. Captain Terrazas visited the hospital to congratulate Paramedic Greer on her first child, Alexander. Throughout Alexander's youth, the LAFD became like a second family and home for Alex. He would spend many holidays and weekends visiting his mother at the fire stations, and became very close with several members, who would later become mentors to him. Christi likes to brag to Alex that she got hired three years earlier than he did, at 20 years old. As proud as she is of her oldest child, Christi is still Mom. She has even asked him not to share all the details of his ride-alongs with her, because she knows what dangers he may be exposed to when serving the public. Alex is excited and feels prepared to begin his probationary year as a Firefighter at Fire Station 29, A Platoon.
LAFD Class 21-1 transferred to their first probationary assignment, reporting as early as Sunday, November 21, 2021 (depending on which platoon assignment they received).

With National Signing Day quickly approaching, Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is on track to having arguably one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the program. Freeze spoke with the media Tuesday during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Kentucky. After leading Ole Miss to a 7-6 record this past season, including a win in the BBVA Compass Bowl, Freeze said recruiting has been easier after establishing a body of work. “I don’t think we would be sitting here talking about the class we’re hoping to bring in without the momentum that was created by the end of the season,” Freeze said. “Winning the Egg Bowl and being competitive in the big games against Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M, then going and winning the bowl game certainly gave some credibility to our message to recruits.” Ole Miss currently has the 11th ranked recruiting class according to Rivals.com, but could easily jump into the top 10 with many undecided big-name targets on the board. With less than a week to go before signing day (Feb. 6), Freeze believes he and his staff must stay consistent with what they have done so far to help boost the class. “We’ve got to stay consistent,” he said. “With this conference, there is no one who is bad at recruiting. Everyone is good at it, and it gets a little tougher this week. We’re certainly in on the right guys. We’ve just got to find a way to hopefully close on a good number of them.” Two prospects that many are keeping their eyes on are the unanimous No. 1-rated overall player Robert Nkemdiche, a defensive end from Loganville, Ga., and Laremy Tunsil, the unanimous No. 1-rated offensive tackle from Lake City, Fla. Both have Ole Miss among their top schools. Batesville native and South Panola defensive back Antonio Conner, the No. 2-rated safety in the country according to ESPN, has shown high interest in the Rebels. Freeze has also had some assistance from players who have already committed to the Rebels and believes that commitments recruiting prospects is helpful in the recruiting process. “I think any time you get kids that have that personality, and you get one that is a really good player and has a great personality that people want to be drawn to it helps,” Freeze said. “It’s no question that I think that is one of the things that has been very successful and got us to this point. “Some of the kids that came with us early on have really been loyal and stayed strong and continued to help us recruit.” Ole Miss has one more weekend to host recruits before they make their decisions next week. According to Scout.com, the Rebels are scheduled to have three players in town or their respective official visits, including four-star offensive tackle Christian Morris, three-star offensive guard Wilson Bell and three-star junior college defensive end Jarran Reed. TERMINAL ISLAND - On June 7, 2018 the Los Angeles Fire Department warmly welcomed LAFD Recruit Training Academy Class 2017-2 to our Fire Department family.
After 20 grueling weeks of academy training, the recruits participated in a well attended graduation ceremony, followed by a dramatic demonstration of their newly acquired skills including a live fire burn.
These graduates now enter LAFD neighborhood fire stations to serve a year-long period of assessment as probationary firefighters alongside tenured members of the Department, as they hone their skills to a level necessary to serve as career members of our agency.
