Sethi is limping at the moment. He came home on Friday morning with a bleeding wound on his right hind leg and I took him to the vet. Apparently he was involved in a fight again as the wound is clearly the result of a bite by another cat. Unfortunately the fang of Sethi's opponent hit his ankle joint and the whole area is swollen, thus the limp. He now gets antibiotics as well as anti-inflammatory meds twice a day and as usual he is a terrible patient. The good news is that it's already better than it was 2 days ago and he could go into the garden again this morning.

This tiny "kolibrie" or Hummingbird was found close to our cabin and was taken care of by the Mondi-lodge owner!

Obviously it had fallen out of the nest or something went wrong during his first attempt to fly!
Although she fully recovered, she was not able to fly anymore and after two months I got informed that she -unfortunately- passed away!!

After quite a bump into the window and landing in a puddle of water, I decided to dry it and hold it for a while till it was ready to fly away again, which it did :))
Finally recovered from being sick and was able to go out and find some foliage yesterday - I explored Olmsted Park, Jamaica Pond, and the Arboretum. Fall color is starting to get going, though most of the trees were still green.
I'm sad that I missed my planned hike in New Hampshire a week ago due to illness, but now that I'm recovered I can try to find fall color in the Boston area. I have a whole list of places to try and it's hard to decide between them - if you see any particularly good spots, let me know!

Last year the heat dome did a number on the hydrangea bush behind my place. I thought it might have died. But this year's generous rains brought it back to life. The foliage is not as full as it usually is, but it's blossoming. The little hoverflies really like it. I believe this is a Mountain Hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata). Its blossoms are not the big round balls of flowers that you usually associate with hydrangeas.
Not enough light (and not enought time) today for good photos but I took this quick snapshot of Tofu for an update after his dental surgery yesterday. He is okay but still recovering. Although only two teeth were removed the whiole procedure turned out to be more complicated and took longer than the vet had expected. I spare you the details. When Tofu returned home yesterday afternoon, he curled up in Fynn's old cat bed which (after all these years) is still the place where he goes when he is in need of comfort. He feels better now, eats well and even wanted to go out into the garden but I decided to keep him indoors today. The problem is that he would eat grass and I don't think that that would be a good idea right now.
Tofu is recovering from the visit of his cousins. He has been good with them (as always) but these visits are still slightly exhausting for him, especially as the cousins are very active during the night and Tofu usually isn't. :)

And - what is best - no apocalypse happened (how many were said to happen during the last 10 years for countless reasons?? ), as some self-proclaimed "prophets" and sermonizers wanted to have people believe for a bunch of reasons (the end of a "tetrade" and lots of other stuff). Well, maybe their lives and the life of their followers is boring enough that they need some "end-of-world" scenario to cheer them up a little. And, of course, the money that some guys make with statements like this in books or TV shows might cheer them up as well quite a bit...
As for myself, I think watching today's wonderful spectacle - even if it was quite early in the morning - makes it clear that no apocalypse is needed - for whatever reason!

I recovered this from a completely blown out image (entirely white). I must remember not to take a pictures in shadows and then try to get the moon in daylight without adjusting. After I lowered the exposure to get back to the shoot I took, I had an unusual picture that I kinda like. It also shows some sensor banding that I kinda don't like.
