Lorenzo State Historic Site is a mansion built by Colonel John Lincklaen, founder of the village of Cazenovia, NY.[2] Colonel Linklaen was the agent of the Holland Land Company upon whose recommendation the Company purchased the 135,000-acre (55,000 ha) tract of land where the village grew. The painted brick mansion, begun in 1807 and completed in 1809, overlooks picturesque Cazenovia Lake. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in July, 1970.[1] Located on the grounds is the separately listed Rippleton Schoolhouse.

If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Only the "nothing". Or since everything is cyclical, perhaps you have returned to the place where you started, full of wisdom from your long trip. It's probably better to look for intelligent life on Earth, but it's also very likely that you'll have a hard time finding it. Don't worry about not understanding the Universe or the reason for its existence... you're not Einstein, but one day you'll understand that... The Universe is wounded, but it still has infinity ahead of it. It still has you and me. Merry Christmas to all and to the infinite Universe that is within you.
Gregory Alan Isakov - The Universe

Music for your trip to the Universe:
Ground Control to Major Tom. Ground Control to Major Tom. Take your protein pills and put your helmet on. Ground Control to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six)... Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three)... Check ignition and may God's love be with you (two, one, liftoff...)
Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."
We haven't changed that much in 300,000 years of evolution.

PS: Electronic - Can't Find My Way Home Just a recommendation. It is important to learn the road signs of the Universe... happy return.
PS: Ground Control to Major Tom. Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong. Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you...
"Here am I floating 'round my tin can, far above the moon. Planet Earth is blue. And there's nothing I can do" (Major Tom)

Taking a very pleasant walk along the Hunters Bay Trail, thanks to the recommendation of our friend Daniel Gibson, we were able to see beautiful colors on the opposite shore. As you can see, the colors were so attractive and captivating that we couldn't take our eyes off them.
These beautiful houses by the bay can boast an enviable quality of life.

Although there might be thunderstorms and rain all weekend, hopefully, I'll be able to photograph some of my favorite bands, too. at Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend Friday-Sunday. I realized I hadn't actually posted any photos of Mitski from when I photographed her the last time she played Pitchfork and, while catching up with her new album Laurel Hell. as well as some of her recent interviews, I became even more excited to see her again.
If you're going to Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend, feel free to check out the preview I wrote and spent about a million hours or so on. It features a great deal of my photos from past festivals but also my recommendations for the weekend for bands I haven listened to but not seen live.

Nieuwpoort
municipality of Liesveld (population approx. 9,585)
The name Nieuwpoort is derived from the Latin ‘Nova Portus’, freely translated as the ‘New Harbour’. Nieuwpoort is one of the smallest Dutch fortified towns and was founded around 1200 by the Lords of Liesveld and Langerak. Nieuwpoort had a part to play in the functioning of the old Hollandse Waterlinie. In the 17th century, on the recommendation of Prince William of Orange, Nieuwpoort was given ramparts and canals in a fortress with six bastions. A pleasant walk along the fortifications can be combined with a visit to the Oudheidkamer [Antiquities Room] in the town hall, where the history of Nieuwpoort is relived. Nieuwpoort, with its protected townscape, is a part of the municipality of Liesveld, together with Groot-Ammers, Langerak and Streefkerk.

And here's the rain that accompanied the rainbow I posted yesterday. Ying and yang! I love the rain, but my camera doesn't, so I've been thinking about a smaller, lighter, more weatherproof camera - suitable for street photography but has some versatility too - limited budget (maybe secondhand). Does anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks!
This result was taken on a very fruitful day in November 2019, when lots of fog was hanging around on the hills and valleys. If you are going to visit the woods as well, leave nothing than your footprints and do not take anything than your impressions.

Memory back from a trip with my mother last month when I went home. This was from the near the end of a whole casually enjoyed day with some colourful atmosphere which finally won my attention(I'm not quite an outing-with-crowds person, rather more of a sitting-silently-and-reading kinda girl). Right now here nature is fresh greenish with sweet, cold, slow breeze reminding of the last days of winter, so reflecting on the flowers in memory.
Hope you're alright and having bright, peaceful days :)
P.S. Currently at the end of the Chronicles of Narnia marathon(almost), after which I'd take a short break and start another(In Sha Allah). About which I'm a bit confused... what do u suggest I should read next - lotr or Anne series? (My heart's going for Montgomery)
On the northwest corner of the Caldwell County Courthouse sits this seven-foot-tall, green-gray granite monument placed by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1923. During the summer of 2020, following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and amid numerous protests that ensued, Caldwell County citizens stepped forward and proposed removing the monument.
Before summer's end, the Caldwell County Commissioners accepted recommendations from a citizens panel to relocate the monument to the old Caldwell County Jail (shown previously in this short series), now repurposed as a museum. Then earlier this year, the Texas Historical Commission authorized the issuance of a permit allowing for the removal and relocation of the Confederate monument. The relocation of the monument to the old county jail/museum will occur later this year.
Lockhart is the seat of Caldwell County, and is located 30 miles (48 km) south of Austin. The estimated population of Lockhart in 2019 was 14,133. Known as the Barbecue Capital of Texas, Lockhart also has played host to many film sets. The 1996 Christopher Guest comedy film Waiting for Guffman and the 1993 drama What's Eating Gilbert Grape were filmed partially in Lockhart, including the historic courthouse and the town square.
i knew about this place by recommendations from photographs living in Gran Canaria. I wanted very much to see it with my own eyes as they picture were offered a splendid epic view of a remote and impressive place. During my six days visit to GC i was very unlucky with the weather conditions, a mixture of hot air and the norther winds caused that entire interior was covered by a dense fog. On my last day the weather started to change and I decided to take the winding road to this viewing point with great hopes for a good captures. The experience to drive to and from this place was already a big fun: a narrow raw with many tight curves, very steep and very dark. One car could hardly pass by. The light conditions were not ideal but I am happy with the result. I spent 3 hours alone enjoying the scene as offered by the Mother Nature. Wonderful experience. This is 5 captures bracketed images, I had to use this technique due to a very high dynamic range of this scene on that evening. I was a great fun editing this image. It is very likely I will return to this place to get another chance for a better light and to correct some technical errors of this shot.
Early Sunday morning hike through the park.
Special thanks to Bob (sideshow015) for the recommendation !
ENG: A nightly city view of Greifswald. One could also speak of "One night in Greifswald". ☻
And I can also give you a restaurant tip on the way. The "Fritz BrauGasthaus" on the "Markt 13 - 17489 Greifswald" is definitely worth a recommendation, whether for food or beer.
•
His recommendation was to send the lens back and go with a Nikon lens even if it didn’t have the reach and was heavier. He thinks that I might be happier with that even though my wallet might be a bit lighter as well.
That skunky Yellow-crown didn’t say a thing and just went back to sleep. Never trust any hear-say you hear on the bayou. Yellow-crowned Night Heron just doing some chilling on Horsepen Bayou.
BTW, I’m still debating on the Sigma, but am really not happy with the results. Tomorrow will be decision day. Wishing everyone a wonderful day, evening, morning, or whatever time of the day you are experiencing in your location.

The Ritz SL has been given a pre Christmas makeover (pictured here, Hitchcocks Bar).
It's also one of my recommendations for places to stay over the Festive season.
It was a recommendation by the restaurant in the previous photo. It was like Ceviche and tasted good. It came with rice paper to be eaten like Tacos.
Phu Quoc is a renowned producer of Nuoc Mam fish source which is made from raw sardine or mackerel and salt. They are kept in tanks for months for fermentation. Nuoc Mam is fishy water squeezed from the fermented fish meat.
Nuoc Mam is used as seasoning for most of the Vietnamese foods like Namplar in Thailand and the soy source in Japan.
It is also noted that fish source shares a root with Sushi that was originally a food of fermented fish meat.
This is an appeal, but also a recommendation for you. If you hadn´t seen it, you simply "must" go there! Burning Life is the SL equivalent of Burning Man, a music and art event which annually takes place at Black Rock City, Nevada.
If you love art, if you can´t live without music, if you´re into photography (and obviously you must be if you´re on here ;-), don´t miss it! Oh, and you can meet nice robots;-)

Well I'm going to bore you all again with even more images from that last visit up to Seaham
I came away with so many images I was fairly happy with and as unfortunately we don't seem to be getting away as much as we used to, this is what I have to work with
I've said many times previously how I often see faces in the waves. On this occasion I think the wave looks rather like a sea monster, rising from the deep
The conditions that morning although not great to start with and one or two togs seemed to call it a day, due to the rain. We stuck it out, as the waves continued to pound their way toward shore
Then from no where we got this beautiful light, backlighting the mist/rain as it headed out to sea
It provided a wonderful atmosphere, conditions you don't often get
So here it is, the creature from beneath
Recommendation I keep forgetting to mention - Billy & Molly - Disney Plus
Its a story about an otter on Shetland
You can't not be touched, I cried at one point
So worth watching, if you've not already
My recommendation for foggy days: start early in the morning and enjoy the sun on the mountains.

Thanks to a recommendation from someone, I discovered a wonderful artist who makes these stunning hand painted pin badges for me!
The photo absolutely doesn't do these justice! They are much better in 'real life'. Think the wide angle has especially distorted the outer ones!
Being as there is very little out there commercially available with shieldbugs, I have to seek these special ones out!
HI GUYS.
I've been working on my simple portraits for my portfolio for SCAD, this is an old one from the Midwest Meetup. I'm applying as soon as I get my recommendations and stuff from school, it's nerve-wracking business! I'm so excited to see where it goes though. I'm trying to get a full scholarship (half artistic / half academic) so maybe I'll end up at art school! Who knows though. I'm starting class in two weeks and I have no idea where this year will take me, so I guess we're all gonna find out :)
I went to New York, Montana, and DC, and I still have pictures lying around from all three so expect some stuff in the future from that.
I just got an iPhone and just got a new instagram!!! Add me @ EvanBlaiseWalsh

Downtown New Orleans is a treasure trove of historic architecture, blending French, Spanish, and Creole influences. Here are some notable old buildings:
- Royal Street: A historic stretch in the French Quarter, known for its antique shops, art galleries, and vintage hotels. It’s a great place to explore the city’s architectural charm.
- The Historic New Orleans Collection: A museum and research center showcasing the city’s rich history. It includes exhibitions on the French Quarter and Louisiana’s coastal culture.
- Old U.S. Mint: Built in 1838, this Greek Revival building once produced American and Confederate coinage. It now houses the Louisiana Historical Center and the New Orleans Jazz Club Collections.
- Old Ursuline Convent: Dating back to 1745, this is the oldest surviving French colonial structure in the U.S. It has served as a convent, a meeting place for the Louisiana Legislature, and now operates as a museum.
- Beauregard-Keyes House: Built in 1826, this historic home has housed notable figures like Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard and author Frances Parkinson Keyes.
New Orleans’ downtown architecture is a fascinating mix of Creole townhouses, shotgun houses, and grand mansions. If you’re planning a visit, exploring the French Quarter’s oldest buildings is a must! Would you like recommendations for photography spots? I know you have an eye for capturing architectural beauty. I certainly do

In a faraway land somewhere deep within, the water fell in a hurry and sloshed up a froth. The froth silently billowed a mist. The silent mist gathered in the eyes and squandered the spirit. The defeated spirit stood in chilling waters with a hurting body and a melancholic mind. Time pitilessly hurried past. So did many trusted people. Loneliness percolated the defeated in silence. In silence, the defeated considered resigning. Letting go must not feel any worse than feeling defeated.
But then something bubbled within. Je ne sais quoi. The defeated looked up. He looked up at a mirror of memories. The reflection in the mirror smiled and nodded. He may have been weak, but now he felt adequate. The world has ignored his existence, but now he felt connected. Grumpiness and gloom made room for self-love. Self-respect. Self-adequacy. Forgiveness followed. He felt defeated no more. Instead, he felt moored… he felt beautiful… compassionate… and he felt tender-strong. His beary beautiful spirit effused. And sloshed up a froth that silently danced with his ghosts.
PS: Guess, who was I talking about above? The untamed bear from Katmai, you, or was it I? As you ponder, let me remind you that you too have je ne sais quoi and no matter how it feels every now and then, you are always utterly beautiful! You are you and that is enough! For the coming year and always, I wish you the deepest, kindest, and tender-strongest version of yourself. Happy New Year to you and your beary beary beautiful spirit!

After a great recommendation from Deb Bray and Steve Pole from the Focus Facebook group, Maui Bay Jetty (Coral Coast, Fiji)) was definitely the place to shoot on the long drive from Denaru to Pacific Harbour. I was going to a Dive with the Bull Sharks leaving from Pacific Harbour at 8am which was a 2.5 hour drive from the resort in Denaru so this stopover was great (albeit getting up at 4am!)
The sun didn't really come up over the horizon but some lovely colour before sunrise. The lovely water colour on the Coral Coast just enhanced the location.

Thousands of starlings still gather around the pier in murmurations before sunset. Be quick - the birds will disappear by the end of March. I will soon be focussing my attention on birding at nature reserves around Sussex, where I'll be putting my new (used) 1.4x teleconverter to good use. Thanks to Alex Witt for the recommendation!
Following a recommendation, I went to check out Sandra's Bar, Club and Motel. This isn't remotely a vacation spot, it's an adult club with some Motel rooms added on.
Nevertheless, I thought it was really well decorated, the small spa is cute, and the rooms are of a pretty high standard - as well as being free.

The name "Wuhlgarten Area" derives from a hospital opened in 1893 as the "Wuhlgarten Institution for Epileptics near Biesdorf" with a capacity of 1,000 beds. The owner, the city of Berlin, deliberately chose a psychiatric hospital that was at that time located far outside the Berlin city limits and had a railway connection to Berlin.Following the medical insights, especially those of Wilhelm Griesinger (1817-1868), that in addition to treatment, work therapy and recreational opportunities in parks and on agricultural land could contribute to the recovery of the sick, a spacious development was realised here in the Wuhletal area. The spaciousness, the natural landscape conditions and the limitation by the railway line led to the fact that the area received neither a wall nor fences. The development in loose villa form (pavilion style) was designed in the neo-Renaissance style and was oriented towards the recommendations valid at the time to provide not only separate accommodation for women and men but also workshops, agricultural facilities with farmland and animal husbandry as well as a self-sufficient supply system (drinking water with water tower, sewage, energy supply, heating with its own boiler house).
After the initial construction from 1890 to 1893, extensions were built until 1905, mainly for the medical sector. Finally, there were 44 individual buildings on the site, including five larger multi-wing buildings with the centrally located administration building. From 1946, following severe war damage, the hospital was able to gradually resume operations to care for the mentally ill. From 1961, it was then called the "Wuhlgarten Municipal Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology". Finally, in 1968, it was given the name Wilhelm Griesinger Hospital on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the co-founder of modern, scientifically orientated psychiatry, until the facility was closed in 1992. The Hopsital Church, destroyed in the Second World War, was rebuilt between 1994 and 1997 on the basis of the old plans. In the mid-1990s, one of the most modern accident hospitals in Germany was built on the site, which also uses some of the historic buildings. Some of the villa-like pavilions were also sold to private individuals and are used as single-family homes. Others serve health facilities, and the former administration building was converted into a school.
