Recognizable species due to completely black legs and the reddish-brown pterostigma, lighter in the females. The adults are found from June to October and are more abundant in August. We find them in environments rich in aquatic vegetation from the plain to over 1000 meters of altitude. Dragonflies represent one of the most famous bioindicators of the state of health of the environment in which they live as they are individuals particularly sensitive to different forms of pollution and carry out their larval development in water.

All the photos I present were taken in the town of Taormina (Sicily);
I made photos related to "street photography";
I made portraits of people I did not know, this certainly thanks to their sympathy and availability, I thank them very much;
I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking down the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...
For some photographs I used a particular photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production.
---------------------------------------------------------
Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate nella cittadina di Taormina (Sicilia);
ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “street photography”;
ho realizzato dei ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, questo certamente grazie alla loro simpatia e disponibilità, li ringrazio davvero molto;

i always recognize the forces that will shape my life. i let them do their work. sometimes they tear through my life like a hurricane.
sometimes they simply shift the ground under me, so that i stand on different earth, and something or someone has been swallowed up.
i steady myself, in the earthquake. i lie down, and let the hurricane pass over me. i never fight.
afterwards i look around me, and i say, 'ah, so this at least is left for me. and that dear person has also survived.'
i quietly inscribe on the stone tablet of my heart the name which has gone forever. the inscription is a thing of agony.
then i start on my way again.

Feel like I waited forever for you to arrive
You look too long
Perhaps you lost your drive
You were touched by too many hands
Why'd you get soft?
I don't understand
I can barely recognize you
You let his love paralyze you
You know death should inspire you
You let his love paralyze you
You followed their flags
Now you're flapping in the rain
You took the main drag
Denying the coarse terrain
You were once a firebrand
How'd you burn out?
I don't understand
The most recognizable landscape of sandstone buttes of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park.
The landscape overwhelms, not just by its beauty but also by its size.
Monument Valley is a Navajo Nation tribal park, straddling the border of northeastern Arizona and southeastern Utah of the Colorado Plateau. It preserves the Navajo way of life and some of the most striking landscapes of sandstone buttes, mesas and spires in the entire Southwest. The area is entirely within the Navajo Indian Reservation near the small Indian town of Goulding, established in 1923 as a trading post.

As easily recognized, this is a small section of the amazing Bryce NP landscape. The light was nice, and instead of going for a wider view, I had chosen to pick this smaller, more "intimate" section so I could show neat rock formations and more detail.

THE FOLLOWING IS TAKEN FROM THE OFFICIAL DAYTONA BEACH PIER WEBSITE:
The Daytona Beach Pier is the most recognizable landmark on Daytona Beach and has been the center of beach life since the beginning of the community.
The original pier, constructed of palm logs, was built before the turn of the 20th century and extended 600 feet into the ocean. It was built by Thomas Keating and was known as the Keating Pier. It was located at the end of Main Street, where the present pier is located.
On January 20, 1920 a tremendous fire destroyed the pavilion and most of the pier. In 1924, Keating sold the remains of the pier to Jeter McMillan who tore it down and began construction of a new pier. The new Pier Casino opened on June 11, 1925. The pier was 1,000 feet in length and featured a Victorian style building. Its ornate ballroom could accommodate 2,000 dancers and hosted some of the top bands of the day. In addition to dances, the Pier Casino was the scene of charity balls, weddings, beauty contest, social events as well as civic meetings.
During the years of beach racing, some of the pilings were removed to allow race cars to pass under the pier. The Pier Casino was also a popular location for photos of the famous racers who came to Daytona Beach. Those photos were seen worldwide and helped Daytona Beach to become known as "The World's Most Famous Beach." The pier has changed ownership several times since McMillan died in 1946. In 2004, it was acquired by the city of Daytona Beach who then leased it to a corporate operator. In 2009, the city took operational control of the pier, completely refurbished it and sought a long-term, quality tenant for the casino building.
On June 5, 2012, the Daytona Beach Pier reopened and the restaurant Joe's Crab Shack opened its doors and began serving its unique brand of seafood and casual entertainment.
Over the years, the pier has withstood the constant pounding of the Atlantic surf, fire and hurricanes, but it still stands, just as it was built in 1925. It has been known as the Ocean Pier, Keating Pier, Pier Casino, Main Street Pier and now the Daytona Beach Pier, but to most people it is simply known as "the pier" - the most recognizable landmark on Daytona Beach and source of many Daytona memories.

Pigeons Recognize Human Faces. If you shoo a pigeon, that bird is likely to remember you and know to stay out of your way the next time you cross paths, according to a new study. Researchers found that wild, untrained pigeons can recognize individual people's faces and are not fooled by a change of clothes.
One of the most recognized landmarks in Zion National Park, Court of the Patriarchs reach into the Utah sky. These three photogenic peaks bear the biblical names of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Towering above Birch Creek Canyon almost 2000 feet, the Court of the Patriarchs represents nearly a full layer of Navajo Sandstone. This exposed sandstone is one of nine Zion rock layers that together span 150 million years of sediment deposits. The Patriarch cliffs represent one of the thickest layers of sediment, making up some of the tallest cliffs in the world. Occasional flash floods in the Virgin River increase water volume by 100 times and bring down tons of loose rock and sand, scouring out new side canyons and re-channeling the river. Here in Zion Canyon this magnificent scenery is always experiencing change, but its subtleties are seldom recognized in such an immense canyon.
Bear Rocks are a widely recognized symbol of West Virginia wilderness and among the most frequently photographed places in the state. They are a well-known landmark on the eastern edge of the plateau that includes the Dolly Sods Wilderness. They sit in a high-elevation heathland punctuated with wind-carved sandstone outcrops and is home to more than a dozen rare plant and animal species. Situated on the crest of the Allegheny Front, Bear Rocks afford vistas over the South Branch Potomac River. Visibility can extend eastward to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.
The Bear Rocks Preserve is a 477-acre (1.93 km2) tract that is owned and preserved by The Nature Conservancy. Bear Rocks' natural heathlands and open grass balds were originally recorded in 1746 by a survey party that included Peter Jefferson, father of Thomas Jefferson.
Bear Rocks is a remarkably scenic, windswept summit atop one of West Virginia's highest mountains. It is perched on a ridge of sandstone cliffs and is a rock outcropping on the Allegheny Front with a 2,000 to 3,000-foot (600 to 1,000 m) drop below that forms the Eastern Continental Divide. To the east, looking out over the South Branch of the Potomac River, which drains into the Atlantic Ocean via the Chesapeake Bay, there are breathtaking 35-mile (56 km) views where seven mountain ridges are visible on a clear day extending into Virginia. On the clearest days you can see Hawksbill Mountain and Stony Man, the highest peaks in Shenandoah National Park. To the west, water drains into Dolly Sods towards Red Creek, which eventually flows to the Gulf of Mexico via the Dry Fork River, Black Fork, Cheat, Mongahela, Ohio and Mississippi River. Farther north along the ridge of the Front are two more salients, Stack Rocks and Haystack Rocks. - Wikipedia
Recognizable image in black & white because it was a rainy day. Although at the moment of this capture it didn't rain for awhile.
really! i honestly pour my heart and soul into photography but barely anyone recognizes this. i mean i've been taking pictures since i was 13, so for 5 years now and every year i get noticeably better. but there are people on flickr who have been taking pictures for a year, and theyre pictures by public opinion are not better/much better than mine yet they have thousands of hits and comments and all of that. i juts dont understand. i spend so much time, effort, money, everything, on photography yet no one sees that. it really breaks my heart. i have tried everything, posting pictures places, commenting people, and all that happens is nothing, THAT or someone steals my pictures, and yet when they steal my pictures then my pictures get hits and comments like crazy, just not on my flickr. why?
anyways this is monnette we went hiking around my house, this was taken yesterday on my canon ae-1.
i dont know what to do anymore. i have like 20 pictures waiting to be put up, but i want more feedback before i put those up.
i dont know. i guess thats just life and life isnt fair, right?
have a good weekend guys.
Recognizing the need for security, Odge ventured into Hweg Shul to the local droid merchant. Though there were many astro-mechs to choose from, an extra set of eyes is what Odge needed, so a protocol droid was what appealed to Odge.
With only a few to choose from, Odge conversed with a TC unit who seemed rather alert and much less uppity than a 3PO-series droid. TC-33 agreed to come to the A-wing build and assist.
Pick your sauce! National Spaghetti Day on January 4 recognizes that long, thin cylindrical pasta of Italian and Sicilian origin. Usually made from semolina flour, this pasta has been a worldwide favorite for ages and loved by millions.
There are a variety of different pasta dishes that are based on spaghetti from spaghetti ala Carbonara or garlic and oil to spaghetti with tomato sauce, meat sauce, bolognese, Alfredo sauce, clam sauce or other sauces. Spaghetti dishes are traditionally served topped with grated hard cheeses such as Pecorino Romano, Parmesan and Grana Padano.
The word spaghetti is plural for the Italian word spaghetto, which is a diminutive of spago, meaning “thin string” or “twine.”
American restaurants offered Spaghetti around the end of the 19th century as Spaghetti Italienne (which is believed to have consisted of noodles cooked past al dente and a mild tomato sauce flavored with easily found spices and vegetables such as cloves, bay leaves and garlic). Decades later, oregano and basil were added to many recipes.
There is significant debate on the origin of spaghetti. However, we do know that pasta has been consumed for many, many years.
Sung to the tune of “On Top of Old Smoky,” the fun children’s song, “On Top of Spaghetti” was written and originally sung by folk singer Tom Glazer with the Do-Re-Mi Children’s Chorus in 1963.
“On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.”

That's the reason why I posted so many pictures of Venus some time ago : they found some of my pictures of their last show in Paris and asked if they could use them for their last album.
Eventually they chose two of them for the front and the back artwork, the original shots were in color but we both prefered something monochromatic so I put on flickr different versions : black&white, black&red (which I called the "red room effect" in reference to the name of their revious album) and black&red with more processing for "artistic" effects. Marc, the band's singer, chose the versions he prefered (the red room ones) and then their graphist integrated the 4/3 photos (yeah these were shot with the good ol powershot A95) in a 12x12cm cd cover
It's so cool It's hard to realize : Venus has been one of my favorite bands for a long time, got some very important memories associated with their music, it clearly influenced my music, to such an extent we're covering one of their songs with my band (and we 're not a cover band at all, I only feel confortable singing someone else's song, if I recognize myself in it, if every word bears the same strengh, the same truth for me)
So you might imagine how I feel, actually you'll have to, cause I can't explain it myself :)
Perhaps recognizing the photographer from earlier, the conductor of a northbound KCS manifest comes out and gives a friendly wave as his train approaches the State Highway EE bridge at Lanagan, Missouri. The train is powered by five KCS GP30s: 103, 107, 11-, 100, & 111. Today, much of this scene has changed as the second track no longer exists, with a defect detector roughly where the lead GP30 is. The code-line poles have been replaced by mature hardwood trees and the small pond is now a grass field. The photographer and date are unknown. Although, based on the context of the group of negatives, my guess is the late 1960s. Photo was scanned from a medium format negative.
Sif is a distinguished goddess, recognized for her connections with beauty, fertility, and the harvest. As the spouse of the formidable Thor, she embodies elegance, loyalty, and the vital aspects of nature that nurture life. Sif's most iconic characteristic is her long, golden hair, which symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and the thriving of crops. Her hair represents the plentiful harvest that sustains the Norse people, thereby emphasizing her role as a goddess deeply intertwined with agriculture and the earth. The tale of her golden locks, sheared off by Loki and then restored by the dwarves, underscores the importance of her beauty and the restorative power of nature. Even though Sif's individual narratives might not be as well-documented as some others, her role as Thor's wife and her place in the pantheon of gods highlights her unmistakable significance within Norse mythology.

Depending on your age you may not recognize the man in this picture. He was Ronald Reagan most notably host of the TV series “General Electric Theater” and “Death Valley Days.” Reagan was also a B actor and played in the frankly unbelievable comedy “Bedtime for Bonzo.”
What makes this of interest is that Reagan an otherwise minor, second rate actor is a character in a series of alternate history books (a sub-genre of science fiction) written by Tootie Hurtledore in which--incredibly enough--Reagan is elected governor of California and then (an even bigger stretch) president of the United States! While this makes for an entertaining “what if” read it ignores the fact that Reagan had no background in politics, and that the people of the most powerful nation of the world would never elect a second rate actor and TV host to be their leader. Politics is a profession that requires years of experience, thoughtfulness, intelligence and a certain ability to communicate that Reagan never possessed. For my tastes I prefer my fictional reading to be more believable.

The Kraków Cloth Hall, in Lesser Poland, dates to the Renaissance and is one of the city's most recognizable icons. It is the central feature of the main market square in the Kraków Old Town, which since 1978 has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wikipedia
St. Mary's Basilica
Bazylika Mariacka
St. Mary's Church, or formally the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Brick Gothic Roman Catholic church located in central Gdańsk, Poland. With its volume between 185,000 m³ and 190,000 m³ it is currently one of the two or three largest brick churches in the world. Wikipedia
Rynek Główny
The main square (Rynek Główny) of the Old Town of Kraków, Lesser Poland, is the principal urban space located at the center of the city. It dates back to the 13th century, and at 3.79 ha (9.4 acres) is the largest medieval town square in Europe. The Project for Public Spaces (PPS) lists the square as the best public space in Europe due to its lively street life, and it was a major factor in the inclusion of Kraków as one of the top off-the-beaten-path destinations in the world in 2016.
The main square is a square space surrounded by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic or Polish parapet decorated with carved masks. On one side of the cloth hall is the Town Hall Tower (Wieża ratuszowa), on the other the 11th century Church of St. Adalbert and 1898 Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Rising above the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki).

Maybe some of you recognized that my profile here was gone for a little. I needed to reflect about how I want to present my photography work and where. So I don´t want to delete my photo stream and profile here completely cause I am thankful for the opportunities I got through it and I think it is a great community and a lovely place to discover artistic work from all over. Still not sure about how much of my new pictures I am continuing to share on my Flickr. For contact and updates you could follow me on Facebook if you would like. Because the years fly by. And we all go through many different changes, I wonder..
If you had appeared in front of me, would I have recognized you immediately, in a tenth of a second? or not?
Look familiar.... (?) Or be able to react, immediately.. ?
I think not necessarily... because you won't necessarily recognize me, and you'll be able to respond in a split second, or not.
Some say I haven't changed at all, I don't think that's accurate.
May we have a joyful, safe life..
Thanks for visiting!

My second attempt at a custom paint-job (sorry for the poor detail quality again). I'm going for a LED-array mask sorta look. My first try at this using a color gradient to black looked a lot better but I realized that Lego is limited to specific colors. They have to use thatching and dot-arrays to create gradients, and I can only think of a few parts in which even those are used (one is actually the purple torso here which uses cross-thatching to add wear to the look without including a new color to print).
So my second attempt used black dots over even-sized dark-red dots to obscure them and force a gradient. Since this is not my final attempt, you can assume I was unhappy with the result.
My third attempt (pictured) shrinks the dots as you move away from the lit portion. This keeps the LED-array look while also adjusting effective brightness. I believe I was able to keep the dots large enough to be printable so I likely won't do a fourth iteration with this specific design. The look may come out better with blue or green though.
Oh, and look, my first minifigure-scaled (ish) car!

You see, there was a glaring white sky which totally took away all the perception of colors and lines in the fields below. I have tried numerous times to substitute something else for that sky, but it takes a REALLY long time and never quite looks right! This is my favorite so far.

And with madness, my work week comes to an end. Today was just absolutely insane, it started up as soon as I walked through the doors to the building, not through the doors to my office area, but to the building and didn't stop until I was finally able to leave for the day.
I left a pile of little things and to-do lists throughout the cubicle, but those weren't essential and they can wait until Monday.
Glad to be free, and excited to pick up Sylvia later on this evening!
Hope everyone has had a good day.
