The Chacobuco valley is part of the Patagonia National Park, established by Kris and Doug Tompkins following their purchase and rehabilitation of the 174,500 acres Estancia Valle Chacabuco. Their non-profit foundation, Conservacion Patagonica, sold off livestock, took down fences, restored grasslands and forests, and developed reintroduction programs for native species.

I've explored Douglas County for over a decade now, and there are still places that I've never seen and photos I've never taken. I usually explore it with a map, driving to and stopping at places I've plotted out. This time, with some evening hours to spare, I set out and just drove, picking random roads wherever I decided.
And I found this. The land was heavily posted, so I stayed on the public road, and still managed to take a few shots.

Land is in short supply in Hong Kong, and land reclamation has been conducted there since the mid-19th century.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Hong Kong International Airport, and its predecessor, Kai Tak Airport, were all built on reclaimed land.
In addition, as the city expands, new towns in different decades were mostly built on reclaimed land, such as Tuen Mun, Tai Po, Shatin, Ma On Shan, West Kowloon, Kwun Tong and Tseung Kwan O.
Much reclamation has taken place in prime locations on the waterfront on both sides of Victoria Harbour. This has raised environmental issues of the protection of the harbour which was once the source of prosperity of Hong Kong, traffic congestion in the Central district.

Les Oakes reclamation yard in Cheadle. OMG, what a place. Definite treasures to be found, once you have cleared the dust, the cobwebs and the bird poop!
I spent over 3 1/2 hours just wandering around inside and out. Only had my little camera and my phone with me so will definitely have to go back with the proper kit very soon
This was probably a grand home in what id now the ghost town of Fusilier, Saskatchewan.Now it looks as though it's being reclaimed by the surrounding vegetation.
You don't have to travel far from the riches of Bentonville and the Walmart HQ to find small towns struggling to survive. The town of Sulphur Springs is less than an hour away from Bentonville. It has several historic attractions that led me to want to test out my Kodak Vigilant there, after I had done some home-brew CLA work on it.
I was surprised to see a lot of folks out and about when we arrived at the park. There was live music playing, and people enjoying time outdoors with their families. However, it was a little sad to see all of these old buildings downtown. They were either abandoned, lived in, ran down, or some combination of these. I think there was only one Cafe (from my previous photo) and a laundromat left surviving.
I don't know what this building was or currently is, other than being reclaimed by nature.

Wandering down a back lane I found this old Cadillac that had been parked at the back of a property, slowly being reclaimed by the brambles and blackberry bushes around it. It was the only one still moderately visible, 3 other vehicles had already been overtaken and hidden from sight.

This shot (and the rest of the pictures from this series of shots) was actually for my photo class. It didn't receive credit as a "worm's eye" (a silly name for a shot taken from a low angle) because the technically-bracketed exposures all came out properly exposed, not over, not under. Awesome.
More from my trip to Les Oakes Reclamation Yard in Cheadle. I though this would have made in interesting planter for the garden, but I just couldn't quite get to it.

These dead trees are usually partly submerged towards the edge of Colliford Lake. After our dry summer though, the water has receded to leave the trees high and dry!
One of the scenes in a recent trip to a reclamation warehouse. Lots of texture and rust here and enough to keep me amused for days, and most probably much longer!

My last one from Oradour-sur-Glane. Natures way of recovering the land and bringing colour back to the world.
Whenever I get really ambitious I'll come back and make improvements; it's easy to miss details when there is just so much surface area. For now I'm happy to have this completed! It was interesting when I was trying to design guns I had tried more massive ones but couldn't make them work visually anywhere. That's one area where the Glave has a possible advantage still. I'm not sure if the Skulls are weapons or not. Possibly some kind of disrupter/ion cannons?
