I'm back in the new year with the realization that the Statue of Liberty likes to keep little secrets to itself.
.
“Lady Liberty”, as the Americans affectionately call her, her official name is “Enlightening the World, Statue of Liberty”.
.
And she is actually French. Her creator, the fanatic Auguste Bartholdi, created her with his mother's face. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French to the Americans.
To this day it is not only a symbol of freedom, justice and democracy, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And another secret was revealed. It probably owes its color to the sea. It was made of copper by the sculptor. Originally it was a shiny, red-brown color, like the American one-penny coin. Within the first 20 years, "Lady Liberty" quickly changed her color to the green-blue patina we all know.

A freedom-loving lady who has earned her name.

Und sie ist eigentlich eine Französin. Ihr Schöpfer, der Fanzose Auguste Bartholdi hat sie mit dem Gesischt seiner Mutter erschaffen. Die Freiheitsstatue war ein Geschenk der Franzosen an die Amerikaner.

Und noch ein Geheimniss wurde gelüftet. Ihre Farbe verdankt sie wahrscheinlich dem Meer. Sie wurde vom Bildhauer aus Kupfer gefertigt. Ursprünglich hatte sie eine glänzende, rot-braune Farbe, wie die amerikanische Ein-Penny-Münze. Innerhalb der ersten 20 Jahren, änderte "Lady Liberty" kurz entschlossen ihre Farbe zu der grün-blauen Patina, die wir alle kennen.
