Happpiness from worldly things is like a loan which will have to be repaid. So if you wish such happiness keep readiness to repay. After self-realization, you can get permanent happiness from Soul, which is full of bliss. Yet repayment for past loans taken from previous lives will have to be made.

After Self-Realization, I felt inner peace in the event of a death of a family member, that happened before realizing the Self. The wave of emotions came and i realized it was that wave making me emotional and it was the circumstances that were meant to be like that. Neither the emotions nor the people connected to the situation could touch me anymore which was not the case before, and I felt complete peace thereafter.

The icon of very American culture Iron Man is now Japanese Samurai, the very soul of Japanese culture! He will eat sushi instead of cheeseburger! It is amazing to see Japanese culture almost in every aspect of our life scenes. They did not win the last war but won the hearts of people over the years with their culture…

REALIZATION

April 16th, 2013: It is strange when you come to the realization that you have walked and shot on the location of a tragedy. This is only 50 yards from the location of the first explosion. I am sure the prayers of us all go towards the families of the lost and the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, but the prayers of such a vibrant and historic congregation are certain to be heard!

PERSPECTIVE

a place of realization took place

most of the things you hold on to seems unimportant anymore

it will remind you that it takes courage to fight for something

but it will need your whole soul to admit that your at fault

while it will lead your heart to freedom

we are in a right place and right time

but we still have different perspective of the things said and done

I know we might paint a silly smile

Know the difference between a 'guru' (teacher/preacher) and a 'gnani' (the enlightened One). Know the qualities of a true guru and a gnani in order to identify them when they come your way. The two have very different virtues. A gnani is free from anger, pride, deceit and greed. And a gnani is One who has experienced His true Soul and enables others also to do so. A true gnani is in no need of money/ disciples/respect etc... He is above all material things.

After the disappointing realization my 3G iPhone was not compatible with my kick-ass DJ headphones nor my work out headphones I did some research and found an answer: ADAPTORS! Though I could buy one from Belkin that didn't seem like much fun and little adventure. After speaking to my co-worker who is an electronics genius I showed him the link to Bobby's Page who gave some nice photos and how to's....

so here it is! MY ADAPTOR - and it rockin works! Yeah. Let me just say the "wire" inside the stupid earbuds Apple gives you is a very delicate wiring system that doesn't solder very easily. You have to be very careful. And the white wire denotes VIDEO - so watch out. it has nothing to do with the ground.

Good Luck, and have some fun of your own - dump those stupid apple earbuds that kill your ears and step up to your killer headphones!!!

Sometimes life shows you colors…! Sometimes it snatches everything yet Allah fulfills everything with HIS mercy. You don’t know what is snatched can be given back to you if you have faith, if it was not meant for you, you won’t get it back and if you ask for it in your most sincere prayer… miracle is nothing but a matter of second to let it happen! All we have to do is to have faith… letting your mind realize, He is the master of everything. We should have the courage to do everything for HIM… do we really can? Do we really have the courage? Do we really think about HIS orders? Do we really believe into HIS promises? Are we passing the exams? Or we are constantly failing? The most surprising thing, it’s not bothering us… Is it? These questions merely haunt our minds… Merely we get time to think about it…

In a late night… when no one is around me and I am trying hard to convince HIM what I want… holding the faith in HIM... If I ask myself these questions… Shall I be able to stand up and walk through the turns I am walking…?

Towards the end of the Korean War, the USAF came to the realization that their transport fleet was becoming obsolete. The C-46 Commandos and C-47 Skytrains in service were no longer adequate, while the C-119 Flying Boxcar was having difficulties. In 1951, the USAF issued a requirement for a new tactical transport, an aircraft that would need to carry at least 72 passengers, be capable of dropping paratroopers, and have a ramp for loading vehicles directly into the cargo compartment. Moreover, it must be a “clean sheet” design, not a conversion from an existing airliner, and the USAF preferred it be a turboprop design. Five companies submitted designs, and six months later the USAF chose Lockheed’s L-402 design—over the misgivings of Lockheed’s chief designer, Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, who warned that the L-402 would destroy the company. Little was Johnson to know that, fifty years later, the L-402—designated C-130 Hercules by the USAF—would still be in production, and one out of only five aircraft to have over 50 years of service with the original purchaser.

The C-130 was designed to give mostly unfettered access to a large cargo compartment—the ramp forms an integral part of the rear fuselage, the wing is mounted above the fuselage, and the landing gear is carried in sponsons attached to the fuselage itself, while the fuselage has a circular design to maximize loading potential. The high wing also gives the C-130 good lift, especially in “high and hot” situations. The Allison T56 turboprop was designed specifically for the Hercules, and has gone on to become one of the most successful turboprop designs in history.

After two YC-130 prototypes, the Hercules went into production as the C-130A in 1956, to be superseded by the improved C-130B in 1959. The latter became the baseline Hercules variant: C-130As had three-blade propellers and a rounded “Roman” nose, while the B introduced the more familiar, longer radar nose and four-blade propellers. (Virtually all A models were later retrofitted to the long nose, though they kept the three-blade propellers.) In the 50 years hence, the basic C-130 design has not changed much: the C-130E introduced underwing external fuel tanks, while the C-130H has a slightly different wing. Even the new C-130J variant only introduced new engines with more fuel efficient six-bladed propellers: the basic design remains the same. Lockheed also offers stretched versions of the Hercules, initially as a civilian-only option (the L-100-30); the British Royal Air Force bought this version as the C-130K and it was later adopted by other nations, including the United States.

The basic C-130 is strictly a transport aircraft, but the versatility of the aircraft has meant it has been modified into a dizzying number of variants. These include the AC-130 Spectre gunship, the HC-130 rescue aircraft and WC-130 weather reconnaissance version. Other versions include several dozen EC-130 electronic warfare/Elint variants, KC-130 tankers, and DC-130 drone aircraft controllers. The USAF, the US Navy, and the US Marine Corps are all C-130 operators as well. Besides the United States, there are 67 other operators of C-130s, making it one of the world’s most prolific aircraft, with its only rivals the Bell UH-1 Iroquois family and the Antonov An-2 Colt biplane transport. C-130s are also used extensively by civilian operators as well as the L-100 series.

The “Herky Bird,” as it is often nicknamed, has participated in every military campaign fought by the United States since 1960 in one variation or the other. During Vietnam, it was used in almost every role imaginable, from standard transport to emergency bomber: as the latter, it dropped M121 10,000 pound mass-focus bombs to clear jungle away for helicopter landing zones, and it was even attempted to use C-130s with these bombs against the infamous Thanh Hoa Bridge in North Vietnam. (Later this capability was added as standard to MC-130 Combat Talon special forces support aircraft; the MC-130 is the only aircraft cleared to carry the GBU-43 MOAB.) It was also instrumental in resupplying the Khe Sanh garrison during its three-month siege. Hercules crews paid the price as well: nearly 70 C-130s were lost during the Vietnam War. In foreign service, C-130s have also been used heavily, the most famous instance of which was likely the Israeli Entebbe Raid of 1976, one of the longest-ranged C-130 missions in history. C-130s are often in the forefront of humanitarian missions to trouble spots around the world, most recently in the 2011 Sendai earthquake disaster in Japan.

As of this writing, over 2300 C-130s have been built, and most are still in service. It remains the backbone of the USAF’s tactical transport service; attempts to replace it with the Advanced Tactical Transport Program (ATTP) in the 1980s and to supplement it with the C-27J Spartan in the 2000s both failed, as the USAF realized that the only real replacement for a C-130 is another C-130.

This aircraft--or what's left of it--is Bureau Number 156172, built as an EC-130Q TACAMO aircraft. TACAMO (Take Command And Move Out) aircraft are built to allow both the Navy and the National Command Authority--the President, Cabinet and Joint Chiefs--to talk to ballistic missile submarines from airborne command posts. In case of nuclear war, the President would board the E-4 NEACP, then use Very Low Frequency transmitter antennas to communicate with TACAMO aircraft. The TACAMO would then verify the messages as authentic and pass on the launch codes to submerged American submarines. The VLF antenna is resistant to electromagnetic pulse and jamming, and consists of a mile long cable strung behind the E-4 and the TACAMO aircraft. At first, a fleet of EC-130Q Hercules converted transports were built to fulfill the TACAMO role, but their age and slow speed led to the aircraft being replaced by the much more advanced Boeing E-6A Mercury, based on the 707 airframe.

156172 was delivered in 1968 and served with both TACAMO squadrons--VQ-3 ("Ironmen") at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii and VQ-4 ("Shadows") at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. It was retired from VQ-4 in 1990 and put into storage at AMARC, but by 2002 was sold to Aircraft Restoration and Marketing a few miles west for use as a spares source for other Navy C-130s, namely those being restored at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida.

Today, not much is left of 156172--only the fuselage and tail remain; even the nose and wingbox have been removed. The only way to identify this aircraft is through its Snoopy nose art: shortly before 156172 was retired, the crew added Snoopy on both sides of the aircraft, with the name "The True TACAMO Warriors." Some of this art still remains, otherwise this C-130 would be nearly indistinguishable from the other ex-EC-130Qs in ARM's scrapyard. Other than being used as a prop for Boneyard Safari tours, more than likely 156172 will be scrapped completely in the next decade or so.

You will have to look at the 5 photos to get the full story.

A few days ago in Harbin, sitting under one of the bluest skies I have ever seen in China, we spotted these two commercial liners seemingly flying very close together.

Hollywood, June 23, 2007 (by klk)

Winter has been dominant for some time, after a spell of freezing still weather the wind is now picking up. Something large is brewing.

White slithers of snow start crawling among the boulders and rocks, dropping and swirling off the cliffs, breathing life into the mountain with ever increasing intensity and soon it will engulf the landscape in a white shroud. This is the brightest time of day but still the horizon is dark and brooding, the sun is out of sight but manages to send it's farewell with a gentle display of purple and blue shimmering before retreating for the night.

The ominous beauty of something furious - and it's bound for us. Later the whisper of white that is now will have turned into a rumbling roar of darkness. And I have realized that I'll still be on my way home.

Messe Basel - New Hall

Basel, Switzerland

Project 2004-2012, realization 2010-2013

Urban and entrepreneurial planning

The concentration of exhibition halls around the Messeplatz (Exhibition Square) is the key entrepreneurial aim of the Messe Basel leadership in its further development. Building the Messe Tower and replacing Hall 1 with a highly modern building and optimum exhibition areas were the first components in this strategy, followed by the continuing construction of new halls.

This concentration of exhibition centre activities is also an important urban planning matter for the development of the surrounding Kleinbasel neighbourhood, aimed at regaining outlying exhibition spaces on the present Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) area for apartments, offices and small businesses while simultaneously upgrading the Messeplatz as a focal point in Kleinbasel.

Necessary demolition

Achieving this entrepreneurial as well as urban planning aim of congegrating the Messe and at the same time retaining the important Watch and Jewellery Fair within Basel, required the replacement of two halls on the Messeplatz (Hall 1 at the front and Hall 3). These halls no longer fulfilled modern exhibition requirements in terms of ceiling heights, column spacing or load bearing capacity of the floors. It was also important that all halls be interconnected to ensure flexibility for various events, and that nearby car parking facilities should be retained.

Necessary construction

Fulfilling exhibition requirements for large volumes and uninterrupted floor areas, the New Hall is a three-storey extension of Hall 1 along the Riehenring. To provide indoor connection to all exhibition halls, the new building bridges over the Messeplatz and creates a covered public space, perhaps comparable to a railway station concourse or indoor market, realized in a modern design language. This key architectural and urban planning element defines the south end of the Messeplatz and is illuminated from above by a generous circular opening.

Planned for many uses and events that will take place during and between exhibitions, and featuring restaurants and shops intended for a mix of international, local, exhibition, and public visitors, we have named this new outdoor hall the City Lounge. Open at all times, the City Lounge not only defines the entrance to the fair spaces, but will be a focal point of public life on Clarastrasse (the main shopping street in Kleinbasel) and will significantly enliven the street culture around the Messeplatz. For example, during the autumn fair the partially covered hall will create a fascinating atmosphere with smaller booths and aisles open to, yet protected, from the elements.

City Lounge and Messeplatz

With the addition of the New Hall, current activities on the Messeplatz will continue, but they will take place in a space with different proportions. What was once an elongated rectangle that more or less ran into Clarastrasse without noticeable demarcation is now almost a square with clearer urban definition.

A new “lane” between the New Hall and existing multi-storey car park offers better access to Messeplatz for pedestrians. Connecting east to the adjacent residential area around Riehenstrasse and Peter Rot-Strasse, this “lane” is a continuation of Isteinerstrasse and creates a new east-west link which integrates the Messeplatz into the quarter. Service and supply to the New Hall will be mainly through an underground route, thus reducing truck traffic on Riehenstrasse.

The Messeplatz is a pedestrian and cyclist precinct. Together with the adjacent Rosentalanlage, the Messeplatz will be the main outdoor space for the many residents of the Messe district. The green belt along the Messeplatz-Wettsteinplatz link will be enhanced by more trees on Riehenstrasse to visually connect the exhibition centre to the Rosentalanlage.

What is an exhibition hall today?

Ideally, exhibition halls should be as spacious as possible, rectangular in layout, with wide spans and ceiling heights of around 10 m, in order to provide the flexibility and versatility required for exhibition purposes. In recent years, the demand for such generous spaces has further increased.

Taking Baselworld as a leading example of a modern international exhibition, where the halls are animated by the individual exhibitors’ stands, the goods on display and the crowds of visitors, the question of an exhibition hall architecture does not seem to be a primary demand. Architecture is only perceptible in public areas and stairways and only there can an interface with the wider public landscape of the city emerge. The best illustration of this is the round courtyard in Hall 2. Regrettably, this courtyard is only accessible during exhibitions as it is undoubtedly one of the most attractive public areas in Basel and, especially during Art Basel in June, one of the most successful urban meeting points in the whole of Switzerland. The City Lounge aims to turn the inward-looking architecture of the round courtyard towards the outside and to make it accessible all year round.

How do we design an exhibition hall on the outside?

Viewed from the outside, exhibition halls are actually nothing more than a stack of big boxes. They require very few windows and architectural distinctions are deemed as impractical restrictions on interior flexibility. The architectural results are generally composed of vast, monotonous facades of brick as in Hall 2 or glass for Hall 1. To avoid this repetitive sameness, we took a different approach for the New Hall.

The New Hall features three exhibition levels. The entrance level, the lowest, is at grade with the street and outdoor square, permitting a natural and casual coming-and-going. Ground floor entrances seamlessly link the City Lounge to the existing Hall 1, former Hall 3, the new event space for 2’500 spectators, and a number of shops, bars and restaurants in the foyers. The dynamic sweep of the street level facade reacts to the flows of people and corresponds to the space required at the tram stop and entrances to the exhibition centre and Event Hall. Here, large expanses of glass create the spatial transparency both necessary and appropriate in order to achieve the openness envisioned for the exhibition hall complex and the enlivening of public urban life. This vitalisation and acceptance will be crucial to the long-term success of the "Messezentrum in the city" concept.

Above the ground will be two exhibition floors. To avoid the “big box” effect, the two upper volumes are offset from each other as separate entities, which indeed they are! The New Hall therefore consists of three individual elements, one on top of the other, each projecting over the street in varying degrees, and allowing them to respond to different urban conditions. From each point of view – whether from the Riehenring, Messeplatz or Riehenstrasse – the New Hall offers a different perception every time and thus avoids the monotony of uniform facade lines.

This constant architectural variation is reinforced, paradoxically, by applying a homogeneous material (aluminum) over all exterior surfaces. The facade of articulated twisting bands strategically modulates and reduces the scale of the large exhibition volumes to its surroundings. This is not simply a decorative element but a practical means to regulate the fall of natural light on adjacent properties and to frame specific views from individual spaces, primarily the social areas above the City Lounge, towards the public life of the city.
