a fleeting symmetry between two strangers separated by glass, each absorbed in a private ritual — one reaching for the sky, the other lost in the glow of her screen. between them floats a promise: crafted by hand & heart.
By running this image through Photomatix and Lightroom in a specific way, I was able to enhance the sunlight through the mist without creating excessive amounts of noise. At the same time, the light and colours through the leaves on the trees was perked up, giving these parts of the image a really attractive finish too. I tried to end up with a look of "believable realism" to the final image, despite what was, for me, quite a lot of tinkering.

One day drawing from the skylight, two days inking from photographs. This is the first project beyond sketching and life drawing that I've done for two years. Children, a full-time job and COVID will do that! I'm rusty and not completely happy with this. The underdrawing is visible, and the technique veers from cartoon to photo-realism almost randomly. But I still like it and I think it communicates the feeling of warmth and safety I was aiming for.
