THE THINGS THAT SEPARATE US...
Two small planets rotate on an elliptical axis without ever meeting. But in the evening, as soon as they realign at the closest point, if nothing else they can see each other, along with everything that divides them ...
Alone, as the fragments pull away
I try to trace the outline
An atlas, only shade
Warm in the fragments of the day
I pull away 'til I find aptness that will stay
We dissolve in it for a brief moment
I see a light flicker in the low haze
We dissolve in it, and when we fall in
Softening, we realign
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive
Clearing smoke from my eyes
Color floods from both sides, high
And all the fear that I felt subsides
I'm awake in the slow rise
I'm awake in the slow rise
We dissolve in it for a brief moment
I see a light flicker in the low haze
We dissolve in it, and when we fall in
Softening, we realign
We dissolve in it for a brief moment
I see a light flicker in the low haze
We dissolve in it, and when we fall in
Softening, we realign
none of the processes that have been replaced have disappeared. More people than ever are practicing every approach to shooting and printing :-)

HMM!! Truth Matters! Lies have consequences.
cosmos, little theater garden, raleigh, north carolina
I am resilient
I trust the movement
I negate the chaos
uplift the negative
I'll show up at the table
again and again and again
I'll close my mouth and learn to listen
woah woah ooh ooh
these times are poignant
the winds have shifted
it's all we can do
to stay uplifted
pipelines through backyards
wolves howlin out front
yeah, I got my crew but truth is what I want
realigned and on point
power to the peaceful
prayers to the waters
women at the center
all vessels open
to give and receive
let's see the system
brought down to its knees
woah woah ooh ooh
I'm made of thunder
I'm made of lightning
I'm made of dirt yeah
made of the fine things
my father taught me that I'm a speck of dust
and this world was made for me
so let's go and try our luck
I got my roots down, down deep
So what are we doing here?
what has been done?
what are you gonna do about it
when the world comes undone?
my voice feels tiny
and I'm sure so does yours
but put us all together
make a mighty roar

Shot at Ocean Rd (Southern Ocean) Victoria (Australia). On cloud dancing: "ice crystals, especially long needles, tend to become aligned with the ambient electric field. So what you are seeing is sunlight reflecting off ice crystal faces that are constantly being oriented by the developing electric field just above the [cumulonimbus] top. Then there is a discharge in the cloud, and the field collapses momentarily, and the crystals begin to realign again. Then this just keeps happening over and over"

Sunrises are something very special to me, something magical. And not only when they appear in the form of angel wings on an old willow tree.
Every sunrise is a small new beginning, an opportunity to reorient, realign or maybe even reinvent yourself.
Of course, this is so much easier said (or written) than actually done. Because each of us is in our deep orbits, surrounded by walls made up of societal norms and expectations directed at us. The worst of these are usually our own expectations of ourselves.
But it doesn't have to be total overthrow. Be aware of where you want to go and who you want to be every day and always hold on to it. That alone will change your path.
And if you're thrown back once, it's not so bad. After all, tomorrow is another sunrise.

Geary, Oklahoma was on Route 66 when the Mother Road was built in 1926; however by 1934 Route 66 was realigned directly from El Reno to Hydro, bypassing Geary.
On my yesterdays walk through thick fog a met these two buddies. When I saw them standing there, so lonely on that wide field I instantly knew the titel of this photo and I realized that You don’t need much to feel associated. I don’t have to be the center of each party ore need to realign on everybody around me. After all, and I do abridge that here, it only needs one other person. Someone in whom I can reflect myself, who I feel connected with, someone who is sharing my view to this world ideally with a different point of view. To have someone like this can make the difference between being alone and being lonely.

... I dont' know the band Subsonic Eye, just discovered the song by chance when looking for "Cosmic Realignment" (the name of the filter I used here) ... the sound reminds me a tiny bit of the The Maccabees

This is the roof of a cinema complex in my city (looking straight up). In my eyes it looks like a spaceship - I am such a SciFi fan ; ))
So I added the filter 'Cosmic Realignment' (Topaz Studio) just for fun (it's the blue-magenta galaxy-shaped bubble in the middle) and some further edit in Analog Efex (especially light leaks)
I had to crop the image on the right to cut away a pillar that destroyed the spaceship-look : ))
Happy (Sliders) Sunday !

I had wrist surgery on Jan. 5, bones were realigned and a plate inserted to keep them in place. After one bad night of sleeping, I'm good to go...even drove today on a couple errands (not on painkillers, that's why). Have much more flexibility and much less pain than the previous two weeks...now it's on to therapy!

Decided to have a clearing of my desktop and this little bottle remained to be put in its storage box. The desk light happened to highlight it to produce quite a long shadow that seemed to have possibilities. So replaced onto a whiter card, desk light adjusted, bottle realigned, and after a check on overall size, photograph taken - just this one.
The patterned shadow was a bonus.
The bottle is more of a flask as it isn't round but more oval in
cross-section.
Another 'KISS' - keep it simple stupid - production.

The Zia Motor Lodge was erected about 1938, right after Route 66 was realigned to come straight through Tijeras Canyon rather than detour up through Santa Fe. The smallish Zia symbol fit in nicely with the understated, yet regionally appropriate architecture. There were open carports next to each unit. The Zia Motor Lodge was styled in the Southwest vernacular architectural design.
It's exciting and fulfilling to walk on new lanes and virgin paths. Contemporary it can be very exhausting and even dangerous too. Thats why its not only making sense but sometimes its even necessary following trails others left behind for us. When we do this, we have to be cautious and keep two things in mind (at least two). For one thing, we need to be attentive, where these trails are guiding us too. We need to look up again and again asking ourselves if we wanted to get here and if its good for ourselves to be here. If its not like this, we need to realign, change the direction and leave the trail. For the second thing, we need to make sure that we don't follow our own footprints because in that case, we are going in circles and will never reach somewhere.

The daily Waterloo Yard to Kirk Yard manifest train has a old veteran leader today. BNSF 732 does the honors on this 6800 foot DP-d train as they cross over Buffalo Creek on this wooden bridge east of Winthrop. The railroad realigned the track thru here many years ago to lesson the grades thru here. One can see the old piling from the old alignment that crossed way lower. There use to be some hellish grades thru here back in the IC days.

A matched quartet of Utah Railway SD40s pull a Moapa, Nevada to Wildcat, Utah coal empty along D&RGW's Soldier Creek Line Change near Tucker, Utah the afternoon of April 2, 1994. The realignment reduced the ruling grade between Detour and Soldier Summit from 4% to 2%.
with each gust of gloom
transparent emotions flow
a whistling tender breeze
lingering a lonely rhythm
realigning clouds of smog
hovering tattering trees
leaving behind a silhouette
absorbing shadows of sorrow
all alone a locked heart
searching for unknown hope
humming the bitter dreams
of a darkened and lost soul....written by lady bird.

A tower stands on the edge of time
Upon it stands the astral mind
The burning chaosphere seethes behind
Ours to see yet we are blind
The eyes of God look upon what he's done
And the eyes of Man look on and beyond
I am a god, I am the one
The wizard in black reveals the sign
The chosen are ready, destiny realigns
Eye of ultra soul, together we join
Alone again, once again, into the void
Cosmic eye in the heart of the sun
Freedom rays awaken the chosen ones

This photograph was taken on a red brick section of the original (1926-1930) alignment of U.S. Route 66 that is located between Chatham and Auburn on Snell Rd. off Illinois Route 4 in Sangamon County, Illinois. In 1926, this road segment became part of the new Federal Highway System when it was designated as part of U.S. Route 66.
It held this distinction until 1930 when Route 66 was relocated to the east in an effort to bypass more municipalities. This was deemed necessary by the Division of Highways to allow traffic flow through the state with less obstacles to slow the journey.
In 1932, the original Portland cement used on this segment was resurfaced with the brick surface seen in this photo. Brick used for road surfaces were most often laid over a bed of concrete. After pouring the Portland cement, the brick had to be laid by hand, a difficult, time consuming project. Records show no reason for resurfacing the rural 1.53 miles of Illinois Route 4, north of Auburn with brick. After the project was completed, this road was designated Old Illinois 4. Today the road and bridges, cross-section template, culverts and gradings are virtually as they were in 1932.
This 1.53 mile long section of the road in Sangamon County is known today as the Auburn Brick Road. This segment of Route 66 was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It is listed on the National Register because of its value to engineering history, not its Mother Road connection.
Route 66 originally ran from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, a distance of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the 1946 hit song "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66" and the Route 66 television series, which aired on CBS from 1960 to 1964. It was also featured in the Disney/Pixar feature film franchise Cars. In John Steinbeck's novel, The Grapes of Wrath (1939), the road "Highway 66" symbolized escape and loss. Other designations and nicknames for the highway include the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America and the Mother Road. US 66 underwent many improvements and realignments over its lifetime, but was officially removed from the United States Highway System in 1985 after it had been replaced in its entirety by segments of the Interstate Highway System.

The Indiana General Assembly is the state legislature, or legislative branch, of the state of Indiana. It is a bicameral legislature that consists of a lower house, the Indiana House of Representatives, and an upper house, the Indiana Senate. The General Assembly meets annually at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Members of the General Assembly are elected from districts that are realigned every ten years. Representatives serve terms of two years and senators serve terms of four years. Both houses can create bills, but bills must pass both houses before it can be submitted to the governor and enacted into law.

Where have you been?
Do you know when you're comin' back?
Since you've been gone
I've got along, but I've been sad
I tried to put it out for you to get
Could've, should've, but you never did
Wish you wanted it a little bit
More, but it's a chore for you to give
Where have you been?
Do you know if you're comin' back?
We were too close to the stars
I never knew somebody like you, somebody
Fallin' just as hard
I'd rather lose somebody than use somebody
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise
(I see myself in you)
I see my reflection in your eyes
I know you're sick
Hopin' you fix whatever's broken
Ignorant bliss
And a few sips might be the potion
I tried to put it out for you to get
Coulda, shoulda, but you never did
Wish you wanted it a little bit
More, but it's a chore for you to give
Where have you been?
Do you know if you're comin' back?
We were too close to the stars
I never knew somebody like you, somebody
Fallin' just as hard
I'd rather lose somebody than use somebody
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise
(I see myself in you)
I see my reflection in your eyes
(Tell me you see it too)
So close, so close
Yet so far away (so far)
I don't know (I don't) how to be solo (no)
So don't go, oh, no, just stay
You and I were bright, shootin' through the sky daily (yeah)
Lightin' up the night, wasn't always right, baby (mm-hm)
Yeah, every time that we realign, it's crazy
And you save me
We were too close to the stars
I never knew somebody like you, somebody
Fallin' just as hard
I'd rather lose somebody than use somebody
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise
(I see myself in you)
I see my reflection in your eyes
(I sold my soul for you, I know you see it too)
Yeah, I bought the same ones too
I know you're tired, I know you tried
To say your point of view, yeah
Sick of all the poison in me
What the hell do you want from me, babe? Uh-huh
I see myself in you, I see myself in you, baby
I see myself in you, alright
I sold my soul for you, maybe you should stick with us now
The daily Waterloo Yard to Kirk Yard manifest train has a couple SD75's today for the short 4700 foot train. The train crosses the 32 feet high/321 feet long wood bridge over Buffalo Creek east of Winthrop on the Dubuque Sub. The railroad realigned the track thru here somewhere around 1952. One can see the old pilings from the old alignment that crossed lower, and made for some huge grades throughout this area. Finally...CN power on CN track!
CN's EJ&E tribute engine works up the 2% grade of Steelton Hill with cans destined for export. The original alignment of Steelton Hill can be seen on the left. CN realigned parts of the hill in 2015 during a double-tracking project.
In order to fly at peak performance, birds must carefully maintain their feathers. This means removing dirt, excess oil, and parasites. Birds do this by running their bill from the base of a feather to the tip, a process known as preening. In addition to removing debris, preening also realigns feathers, improving their aerodynamic performance.

U30Cs, pellets between the rails, rock cuts, 82 year old jennies, searchlights, and a door propped open with a broom. Does it get any more LS&I than that? The 7 Tilden crew makes their second trip to the mine with the U30C pair as they hang a right at Palmerline Junction and head for a load of Tilden ore. This location was originally where the DSS&A’s “Palmerline” to the Volunteer Mine in nearby Palmer parted ways with the C&NW main to Escanaba to the right, hence the junction’s name. Both lines were originally further west, but were joined and realigned to their current location in the early 50s to access the then-new Tracy Mine just to the north.
Later that same evening, after the moon had set in the western sky and darkness had descended upon Bridport beach, we realigned ourselves with the Magellanic Clouds around the other side of the jetty.

Union Pacific's LUC55 local departs Salt Lake City through Grant Tower the afternoon of Dec. 27, 1992. The train is powered by "Operation Red Block" SD40-2 No. 3626 and GP15-1 No. 1555 pulling 83 cars. Today, the right of way on the left is lined with hundreds of luxury apartments and the track itself has been realigned with gentler curves to increase train speed.
I spent much of Super Bowl Sunday exploring the Conemaugh Line of the NS. This is NS's river grade line east of Pittsburgh used by eastward bulk and heavy manifest freights bypassing the heavy grades of the main line east of Pittsburgh through Latrobe and Greensburg. Here loaded coal train 534 soars across the line's namesake waterway. The line through here was rebuilt to higher ground in the late 1940s due to nearby dam construction. The bridge below was built in 1907 and was part of a first realignment of the original right of way that was built in 1864.
25 years ago, in 1995, photographers had to expect the near end of Nohab built class Di3 workings for NSB as new locos had been ordered in Kiel. Then there had been introduced a third passenger train crossing the polar circle. And in 1990 the E6 road running parallel to the railway on the Saltfjell had been realigned at the polar circle on the east side of the railway with a new bridge at Stødi, that since has proven popular with photographers, when road traffic is not too heavy.
NSB Di 3 623 is seen with the morning's northbound Rt 459 Mosjøen - Bodø a bit north of the polar circle at Stødi, having accomplished the 680m climb, that had started in Mo i Rana at sea level.
I didn't know snakes yawn, but a quick google search showed me that they do and sometimes they do this type of behavior to realign their jaws after a big meal and sometimes it's because they have respiratory issues. It didn't look like this one had had a big meal but I hope it doesn't have any breathing issues either. This is one of my resident black snakes. Not the one who visits me Inside the house because this one is only about 3 feet long and the one that comes inside occasionally is almost 5 feet long. I gently sweep that one back outside! LOL

The lake was formed due to a massive landslide at Attabad village in Gilgit-Baltistan, that occurred on January 4, 2010. The landslide blocked the flow of the Hunza River for five months. The lake flooding had inundated over 12 miles (19 km) of the Karakoram Highway. The lake reached 13 miles (21 km) long and over 100 metres (330 ft) in depth by the first week of June 2010 when it began flowing over the landslide dam.
Part of Karakorum Highway was submerged due to this landslide. The seven kilometer long five tunnels are part of the 24 km long portion of the Karakorum Highway (KKH) which was damaged due to the landsliding. The realignment project was completed at the cost of $275 million.
Soon after leaving Kyle of Lochalsh the first train of the day skirts Badicaul Bay on its way to Inverness. Since this picture was taken the road has been realigned and runs in front of the railway. July 1991
Took this shot of the Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace, MD at sunset. The ground is uneven, so I took the shot in person it came out a little crooked. Had to realign the photo in Lightroom. Selected a preset with embellish a warm tone and worked on the shadows/highlights for the clouds. Also moved the saturation around a bit.
Some birds, like cormorants, adopt postures where they spread their wings to dry them out, especially after being in the water.
The structure of cormorant feathers decreases buoyancy and thus facilitates underwater pursuit of fishes. Hence their plumage is not water-repellent, but "wettable." In addition to helping wing feathers to dry, other suggested functions for these postures include regulating body temperature ("thermoregulation"), realigning of feathers, forcing parasites into motion to ease their removal, and helping the perched bird to balance.
