Here is some of the light I was able to see and capture today. Looking for light—both literally and figuratively—is often what I have to do in order to make it through each day. Today was no different, many times leaving me wondering how I would make it through the day. I’m thankful to have these images to look at when I need a reminder of the light God gave me today.

So this post is gonna be a little bit personal and its gonna peel back alot thats going on in my mind rn.
So over the years i know im far than from the less than perfect guy. i do get side tracked and i do make mistakes..but over the years from experience and pain i strive to change myself to be the best possible version of myself.
Few days ago girl i was dating said she could not learn to forgive me for my past and broke up with me. i couldnt sit there and just sit with that in my head because id explode...so i teleported in a friend to try and vent..then i was accused of cheating.
you know i hate myself alot and i hate myself often. When i am doing my best and really genuinely trying to show someone how i feel and how much i want to be around them and then being accused of that.
shits world shattering yo..someone that you genuinely had deep and passionate feelings for just ripped away by that very person to where in reality ya dont want to go on...its a really shitty feeling.
but this is my life..and its my darkness. its why im gonna die alone. no matter what..im always gonna be the bad guy.

From one perspective this looks like an entirely dark mountain that is totally impossible to climb. From another perspective this mountain looks like a painful challenge that—faced with God’s presence, wisdom and guidance, curiosity, truth, grace, and healthy support—could possibly be conquered. It certainly won’t be easy and you can take it one small, courageous step at a time and seek support and rest when you need it.

To me, this snow drift near our house with the pattern of dirt from the corn field blown into the snow seemed to resemble a mountain as I looked down at it which I found fascinating.
I saw the blowing and drifting snow from inside the house, put on a fleece jacket over my 2 long sleeve shirts and also wore my winter coat and braved the cold 12 degree F (-4 wind chill) windy weather to try to capture some of the things I could see from inside. I’m not a fan of this weather but did appreciate spending 35 minutes outside paying attention to and photographing my surroundings.

You are working so hard, trying to remember what the light looks like even when you can’t see it, even when you can’t look up, even when you can’t open your eyes. You capture the light for incredibly difficult moments like this when you’re not sure how you will be able to continue on, to help yourself remember what the light looks like, what the light feels like.
During a time when the intense mental health struggles I face became extra challenging I found it important and helpful to make photos of things I notice in my surroundings as a way to help myself cope. But I found this very challenging as I didn’t really have much capacity, physical strength or clarity of mind in order to plan. It was not easy to pick up my big DSLR or have it accessible if I did notice something to take a picture of. I wished I could have a smaller, nice quality camera to keep with me but didn’t have the funds to purchase one. I thought about using a film point & shoot camera that I had but also knew I didn’t have the money to spend on lab film development or the energy or clarity of mind to develop my own film at this time.
So this “in the moment” project was my compromise to creatively and resourcefully finding a solution to help myself cope with intense, moment to moment struggles when my circumstances prevent me from doing this the way I would prefer.
Last night I just ordered a test print of the first zine in this collection.
