Here is photographic proof. They didn't like me taking their picture. Something about capturing their souls (I thought vampires didn't have souls). Funny though, there was a mirror behind me, and when I turned around, I couldn't see their reflections.

Contrary to popular belief, vampires can come out in the sunlight; but their powers are weak. I wouldn't want to run into them at night though. Shot at the Northern California Renaissance Faire near Gilroy, California.

Some people will fall for anything; like having their fortune told by somebody staring at the palm of your hand. San José Renaissance Fair.

Pierce Brothers Mortuary, 1923

716 - 720 W Washington Blvd

Park Villa Tract, Lots 19 & 20

Meyers and Holler

Several years ago Pierce Brothers Mortuary was purchased by a Huston, TX, firm, and the building which had operated since 1924 was closed. Since 1994 the structure has been home to the Iglesia Getsemani, which is associated with the Aseembly of God denomination and the Dream Center. The building is in bad need of repair, not to mention restoration, but still tries to hold it's head high, despite broken windows, cracked plaster, peeling paint, and a garden overrun with weeds.

According to a September 16, 1923, Los Angeles article, the Pierce Brothers Mortuary at the corner of Washington and Bansallo was nearing completion. The article read that the architects, Meyers and Holler, ". . . have avoided the formal architecture usually employed for this type of building, and have employed a semiformal Italian Renaissance." Included in the building was a large lobby, chapel, flower rooms, reception rooms, and offices, which overlooked large formal gardens.

Although the Times article suggested the design of the building as "Italian Reaissance," I mistook the style to be an embellished Mission or watered down Spanish Colonial.

Scottish Fling Weekend 2009 Texas Renaissance Festival Todd Mission Texas

One of the best preserved relics of European baroque. The base was a 14th Century water fort, from which the trenches surrounding the chateu still exist. The fort was rebuilt into a reaissance chateu at the end of the 16th Century, and later got one more story and four towers in the 17th Century. It was always owned by the most prominent families, but the 30 years war brought destruction to the whole county, and was bought by the Serényi family which rebuilt it and ruled from 1648 until 1811. They realized the last baroque reconstruction, after which no other came and the chateau is a unique example of baroque architecture. Next owners held the manor in well shape until 1945, when it was confiscated by the state. Thankfully it was not destroyed by the communist regime like many other monuments of past times, and is open to public from 1974.

"In the home of Mrs Newmark, desinged by Messrs. Hunt and Burns, we have a fine example of the Domestic English type of architecture. The first story is of brick veneer and the upper story of half timber construction. The interior iss especially beautiful in its finish. The hall and dining rooms are in oak trim, Gothic, while the living room is in mahogany. The bed rooms are of the Reaissance period, being white enamel. The furniure is in tasteful harmony. The garden in the front is of the English type, and is harmoniously deisgned."

I didn't think the other seam on the spare block was clear, so I did a second seam, using Ginnie Thompson yellow thread, a variegated green -unknown- thread for the chains, variegated crochet thread for the Renaissance stitch and a fine perle for the Zig-zag chain

While shooting the Renaissance Faire I saw this aspiring model doing a photo shoot for her portfolio and she was happy to pose for me. First time I had ever seen real wings like these. All others I had seen had been photo-shopped in.

Antibes Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre Dame de la Platea d'Antibes)

is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and national monument of France, located in the town of Antibes on the French Riviera. From the 5th or 6th century a cathedral was built on the site where a pagan temple had been, The remains of which can be seen in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. It is said that St Paul was arrested here on a journey to Spain in 63 AD. Destroyed by the barbarians in 1124, the church was rebuilt in the early 13th century. The plan is with 3 naves. The church has undergone many tranformations over the centuries. The current facade is in Italian style from 1747 rebuilt after a heavy bombardment. Interior, some masterpieces from the Reaissance and Modern times: A crucifix from the middle of the 15th century in the choir. The transept chapel is a masterpiece paintet by Provencal artist Louis Brea in the 16th century: it represents The Virgin with Rosary. Do not leave without admiring the carved portal by Jacques Dole from the beginning of the 18th century.

It was formerly the seat of the Bishops of Antibes, later the Bishops of Grasse. The seat was not restored after the French Revolution and was added by the Concordat of 1801 to the Diocese of Nice.

The 16th century Hotel de Ville in Gray, Haute-Saône, France, is classified as a historic monument and is described as "One of the finest Reaissance buildings in Franche Comte."

McKim, Mead and White, Madison Square Presbyterian Church

Madison Avenue and 24th Street, New York, New York

designed 1903, constructed 1904-06, demolished 1919

It was built in a High Reaissance architecture style, with a prominent central dome over a cubical central space in an abbreviated Greek cross plan which was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the American Institute of Architects.

The church was built upon a white marble base of buff brick and glazed terra-cotta. The six columns of the portico, the shafts of which measure thirty feet, are of pale-green granite. As in many Syrian and Roman churches, the dome is tiled, showing an alternating pattern of green and yellow, the green serving as a background. The building was raised on a marble plinth and built of specially molded bricks in two slightly varied tonalities in a diaper pattern and white and colored architectural terracotta details. The back and part of the left side had buildings attached, so these are blank walls. The Madison Square Presbyterian Church, the last building designed by Stanford White, was demolished in 1919 for a MetLife annex.esigned 1903, constructed 1904-06, demolished 1919.
