An Afghan children throw rocks in the ruined auditorium of the Russian Cultural Centre, in Kabul. The walls bear anti-war graffiti. A caption claims the skull is preaching "Azadi" or freedom, while actually spewing bombs. Originally called the Soviet House of Science and Culture, it was opened in 1982 as a showpiece of the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, but it was abandoned in 1992 when civil war engulfed the capital. Later it became a home for heroin addicts. A spokesman for the Russian embassy said they hope to rebuild it by the time Nato forces leave Afghanistan.
