On the way to the old fort we passed this RR, and an hour or so later it was in the same place, but with the driver/owner in attendance.
I spoke to him, a Californian chap who had lived in Portugal for a number of years. He told me that he purchased the car from northern Portugal after it had been restored.
I didn't catch the year of manufacture, however, the rear registration plate shows it was first registered in Portugal in November 1993. This does not necessarily make it a 1993 vehicle, as many used cars are imported to Portugal and re-registered.
I guess it was fitted with either the 3.5L or 3.9L Rover V8 petrol engine.
The RR's design was well over 20 years old when this one was sold new, but still looked classy. Age doesn't seem to have diminished that.

Its late evening but a Range Rover has caused a flurry of gossip on the cobbles.
Car is a diecast by Matchbox. Diorama is 1:76.
The development of the Range Rover was picked up in 1966 by Gordon Bashford and Charles Spencer King under the leadership of David Bache.
The pre-series appeared in 1969 while the official presentation followed in 1970, then only available as a 3-door model.
This version is also called Range Rover Classic.
The 5-door model was launched in 1981.

After having built the chassis, I started with the body. This is how far I came before cancelling the project.
The main reason for its failure was the fact that the two Powered Up XL motors were not able to acceptably drive the model. The PU Hub went frequently in overload state.
At this stage, only the front part was more ore less finished, with the fenders and the bonnet in place.

This really crept up on me hence the close photo
Smart example, I presume getting in early for a big Land Rover weekend coming up at Billing Aquadrome. There were a number of other L-Rs to be seen.
I would end up getting a better shot of another Range Rover Mk1, as well as seeing one or two others on the road.
Being so used to seeing later, higher-spec models as a 4-door it's still odd for me to see them like this in France.
Back one seems to be a 4-door.
This lovely old Range Rover apparently owned by a tourist from Holland was spotted in Edinburgh in May 2016.
