Love without expectation. When you don't receive what you believe you are putting out, perhaps your output isn't as great as you think it is Check yourself before you accuse the other person of not doing. #RandomThought 9.27.15
βWhen all is said and done, you are part of me. That's the way it was meant to be. People are brought together for a reason, everything happens for a reason. I believe the reason that you came into our lives was to teach us how to truly love unconditionally. Each day with you in our lives was filled with love and life experiences that will forever be a part of us. Gone but not forgotten. You are teaching us how to love one another in spite of flaws. Always loved. Always remembered, never to be forgotten. {RandomThought}

Happy (Heavenly) Birthday Dad. photo taken in 2006
In Memory of My Dad
If I could write a story, it would surely be one of the greatest stories I have every told. My father was a very kind and loving father. He had a heart of gold and his family meant everything to him (especially the grandkids). I could go on and on yet still have difficulty finding the right words to express how much I love and miss him every single day. I am thankful I found a love for the camera and he never said no to me taking his pictures. I am still hurting and sad but I know he is no longer suffering and he is with my mom. They are together again which is what he always wanted. He wanted to be with his wife. Pop-Pop you are loved and missed by our family. We were abundantly blessed to have had you for a such a long time. {Random Thought 1.17.2025}

Heh. This was maybe the most fun one to shoot of 07_07_07 flickr series.
Everyday to and from work I walk through this wonderful european-style plaza in the heart of Chicago's Lincoln Square is a european-style plaza. The plaza's in-laid bricks are often filled with chalk drawings by children.
I brought my own chalk (that I had since I was a kid) and drew on the bricks. It was fun drawing on the bricks. I picked a shadier part of the plaza figuring that would make the scene more interesting. But the shadows ended up obscuring the 777, so I did a good deal of photoshop work on this. Usually I don't pump up the saturation a ton, but in this case, I went ahead.

So many questions, very few answers. An indescribable deep pain and sorrow lingers. A young person has died a horrible, violent death and no one wants to come forward with information. My heart hurts for his family and this community. A community that I lived in for many years as a child and had an opportunity to return and work as the Academy Program Coordinator for the Grant HS Criminal Justice Academy. I count my blessings many times for not only the lives I impacted but the people in this community that helped me to make a positive difference in the lives of my students for so many years working in this community. I will continue hope and pray answers are given to the questions being asked. Why did this happen? How did this happen? Who did this? What did he do to deserve this? {Random Thought 11.20.15}

I'm waiting for summer. This winter is killing me.

Ten random thoughts, in no particular order of importance.
1. Never again will I ever consume one quart of milk all in one sitting. Ever.
2. Why is it in Chicago, some apartment toilets lack tanks and look like these public restroom things?
3. When I was seven, at the Honolulu zoo, I was using my right foot to kick the plunger and flush the toilet, but something happened and my foot ended up in the toilet. Oh, those pink Nike double-strapped velcro shoes. My physical therapist would attribute this mishap to my poor proprioception.
4. Nathan, my vegetarian roommate in college, used to drown mice caught in sticky traps in the toilet. I was partial to the spring-loaded snap trap. Hamilton Court, good times.
5. I hope I will never have to experience a swirly in my lifetime.
6. At physical therapy two days ago, someone evidently had an explosive diarrheal episode in the bathroom, missed the toilet, and left a trail in the hallway. I heard about this from my physical therapist. This happens in real life?
7. Cholera toxin induces endless outpour of watery, rice-y stool. It has to do with adenylate cyclase and cyclic adenosine monophosphate.
8. Clear and copious--how everyone should be doing it.
9. I had the stomach flu on December 31st, 2009. BEST New Years EVER.
10. There are few things I despise more than single ply toilet paper. Peppermint. It tastes like toothpaste.

Little miniature goblets made from candy wrappers. Selling for $8000. That's $8.42 per goblet. How much liquid can each goblet hold? They are little micro shot glasses. Although I suppose that's part of their artisticness is that they are so thin and fragile. And they did at one point hold something consumable--a piece of candy.
