I forgot I have some old puppy pics. This is a pup I ran in to an elevator in Korso, Vantaa

Sorry I've been bit quiet for last couple of weeks. Recovering from a minor mouth operation

days when heavy showers flew towards me and I ran for immediate shelter before running back out to catch the light that always follows the rain. I Ran is by Flock Of Seagulls.

This was captured right after a Cat Fight. The other cat ran away and this cat wanted to Pose like a Thug I guess.

On October 28th, 1906, the four mast Peter Iredale and its crew of 27 and two stowaways ran aground near the mouth of the Columbia River at what is now Stevens Point State Park in Oregon.

Ever since the London Olympics I have been kind of fascinated by the speed and grace of fencing. I ran the idea by my friend Lupita Darkbyrd who found these CL Blue jumpsuits that reminded me enough of the uniform that I thought I would try to shoot something. No luck on the face masks or genuine looking sabers. I thought that the pic conveyed a little of the speed and action of the sport. Shot on a tilting light box. I used some of the fun action animations from Happy Dispatch.

ATSF ran a special publicity freight for Maersk Shipping out of Hobart Yard in LA for shooting in Cajon Pass. ATSF GP60M 146 was chosen to wear the special scheme. The ATSF 144 was also used for reverse moves in the Super Fleet colors. August 1990.

Carrie Blast Furnaces in the distance.

Carrie Furnace is a former blast furnace located along the Monongahela River in the Pittsburgh area industrial town of Swissvale, Pennsylvania, and it had formed a part of the Homestead Steel Works. The Carrie Furnaces were built in 1884 and they operated until 1982. During its peak, the site produced 1,000 to 1,250 tons of iron per day. All that is left of the site are furnaces #6 and #7, which operated from 1907 to 1978, and its hot metal bridge. The furnaces, designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006, are among the only pre-World War II 20th century blast furnaces to survive. The site is currently managed by the nonprofit Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation, which conducts tours and other programs from May through October.

Well, actually, I ran out of time ;) This is my last-minute attempt, photographed last night, no fuss handheld, after numerous attempts of photographing through the peephole of a "magic wand kaleidoscope" that comes with transparent, round plastic sticks that are filled with liquid and floating, glittery stuff that creates the typical patterns when put into the kaleidoscope. Here's a link to the Big River so you can see what it looks like:

It almost worked, but only almost. So I grabbed the nail enamel I bought for the theme, and made a smiley but it looked a little to diffuse, so in the end, I settled for a colourful heart that I painted onto the underside of a white espresso cup (the heart is still there) and then used a toothpick to mix the colours, kind of in a clumsy "wet in wet icing" style.

Exposure metering was set to "HI". I made minimal adjustments in post to make the colours pop a little more than they already did, and slightly brightened the background in the corners where the concave shape of the cup's underside had created a slight vignetting. That's it.

The heart's size is 2x2 cm / 0,78x0,78 inches.

HMM, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!

P.S. I'm busy today and will catch up with you tonight.

I ran across this photo I took of a vacant house on Maine Street here in Brunswick, Maine. It was February and the dirt that gets mixed with the snow and the condition of the structure are very grungy and I added a slight amount of grunge texture to the sky. A year or so later several male students from Bowdoin College just up the road spent time making it livable and it was occupied until last year when because of the pandemic most students returned to their homes. It has since been declared unfit for habitation by the town.

St. Paul Turn ran out of hours at St Louis Park and had a quick crew change with the Glencoe Turn and fortunately went straight through Hopkins making for a not so common daylight sighting in Chanhassen for this time of year. Hopefully these on time Glencoe Turn crew changes happen this summer.

A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away)

Printed up some new work recently and framed up a number of them for our living room. This one has been singing to me all week!

New Forest

I ran across these in the field, thick webs ("tents") full of busy caterpillars. The "Seek" app provided the identification.

Ran up on five bull elk bedded down in the lushest mixed grass prairie vegetation I've ever seen in the Wichitas. First saw one and then four more. They were bedded down and only their antlers were sticking out of the grasses. Got a lot of shots. EXIF data shows the distance at 101 meters. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

''Fran, mira, ranas en las paredes''.

''¿Qué hay con ellas, Jefa?''.

''Se convierten en príncipes''.

''Naaah, no creas todo lo que te digan, Jefa''.

''Que sí, que sí. Hagamos la prueba. Voy a besar a la rana''.

''Deberías besar gente de verdad, antes que andar besando paredes'' y frunciste el ceño.

''Prefiero lo inusitado, Fran. Aquello que escapa de lo convencional''. Te sonreí y...

Back from my short trip! Wish you all a nice weekend! See you tomorrow!

Just occasionally I have a clear out of my hard drive and stumble across a photo which I can't bring myself to delete. This was from a collaboration with Tim Gamble and Darren Hopkins' excellent orb skills

Trani Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim in Trani, Apulia, Italy. Formerly the seat of the archbishop of Trani, it is now that of the archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie.

It is a great example of Apulian Romanesque architecture. Construction began in 1099, over the earlier church of Santa Maria della Scala, going back to the 4th century. The relics of Saint Leucius were kept here until the 8th century, when they were translated to Brindisi. The new church was intended to house the relics of Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim (who died in Trani in 1094). The cathedral was dedicated as soon as they were installed, without waiting for the building to be completed.

The decisive stage of construction probably took place between about 1159 and 1186 under the leadership of Bishop Bertrando II, and the building was complete by about 1200, except for the bell tower.

It was built using the local stone of Trani, a typical building stone of the region: a calcareous tuff, obtained from the caves of the city, characterised by its colour, an extremely light pink, almost white.

The cathedral is distinguished by its showy transept and by its use of the high pointed arch in the passage beneath the bell tower, which is unusual in Romanesque architecture.
